Obvious reason.. he hasnt won there. I cant really put my finger on why. Its commonly thought of as one of THE best course's by many of the players. Yet Woods seems to be, for lack of a better word.. "ducking" any chance he gets to play here.

Wouldnt Woods be itching to win here? A thorn in his side, get the monkey of his back type thing.

There have been questions that he doesn't approve of the weather because it always seems to rain during tournament week. Doesnt change the fact that the best player in the world should be able to win at this course... and shouldnt he want to win here?

That is an interesting question. He is pretty careful about the tournaments that he picks and tends to play those that favor his game.

Now it may have something to do with the fact that it is right before the match play.

He didn't want to chase Phil all weekend... pure intimidation. Tiger knows that Phil is the best player in the world, and he tries to avoid him at all costs. Too bad there's no escaping the a$$ kicking Tiger has comming at one of the majors by Phil... guess no grand slam this year for the puddy cat. G O P H I L !

My understanding of it is that Tiger played out of gratitude for the previous sponsor, as they had given him a sponsor exemption when he was an amateur. It kept him coming back when he could make it to help them as they had helped him.

The current event being right before a WGC doesn't help.

it was sarcasm and hope mixed together... I want Phil to challenge Tiger more often... I want to see Lefty get a major this year... I don't think Tiger will pull the triger on 4 straight (this year)... but as far as avoiding and whose #1... Tiger doesn't care who's in any particular field, and Tiger IS the best golfer in the world... at least until some other players reach their full potential, and of course he IS more beatable than ever nowadays.

I am as big a Tiger fan as there is, and I whole heartedly agree. I would love to see Phil take things up a level, and put some ground between him and the 3-1000 golfers behind him. And if Philski can keep that putter hot. . . sky's the limit!

Go PHIL

It looks like Tiger has reached that great plateau: He plays less than 20 events a year. He has to draw the line somewhere. Maybe he would like to win there. As I recall, he teed it up there as a teenager and didn't fare well. Maybe that doesn't stack up against picking the tournaments that add the most to his world ranking.

I think at this point in his life he's seen, done, and played them all so if he figures that he probably can't win since that course gives him fits, so why possibly ruin your confidence.

Tiger can win anywhere easily. He is keeping his events low because of his daughter but have no doubt he will win this event in the very near future.

Tiger plans his whole season around the majors / WGC events and it is only natural that he avoids tournaments on courses that don't suit him as in reality winning one extra PGA Tour event doesn't matter to him.

With all the respect for PM, if he's the best player in the world, then I'm the best portuguese player ever...

I mean, common! If he's so good, why hasn't he beaten all the golf records? Tiger's doing that. Why isn't Phil?

    • Day 312 - Better finishing position, fuller backswing, PRGR to see how swing speed was.
    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
