I don't sole my driver because it helps me avoid hitting the ground on my shot. I wouldn't ever play a driver off the turf, unless it was "teed up" in deep grass in the rough. I never intend to hit the ground with the driver, and hence keeping it off the ground helps me return the club to where I want it when hitting the shot
I know I play better when I walk. Not exactly sure why. I think I just take more time to look around and not think to much about my swing. I tend to pay attention to details more when I walk...the wind, where the pin is, where to miss etc. For me it's more relaxing. Which I think leads to better golf.
