Just thought of this... Going back to the episodes where Walt and Jesse teamed up with the Nazis originally, to start the Vamanos Pest operation, they were originally thieves. Then they all made the deal not to steal anything else from there on out. They were to take orders from Walt and Jesse and to only take "their share." Now the went ahead and said f-ck you to all of that and in the end: were thieves. Nothing ground breaking just something I remembered. Also lold last night when my fiance and  I were watching older episodes. It was Season 2 where Walt first meets Gus and Gus tells Walt, you can never trust an addict. Welp.. Yeah. He got ya there Walter lol

Were the other Vamanos Pest guys Nazis? I'm pretty sure they were just normal fumigators/thieves and Walt was only introduced to the Nazis (through Todd, who is the least swastika-tattooed of all of the Nazis) as a way to take out Mike's guys. I don't remember any references to Nazism before that first meeting in the motel when they were planning to take out Mike's guys.

f ck.. you're right. lol.

I thought hastily because Todd was involved.

It was some other group of goons. Walt gets involved with the Nazis when he needs help killing Mike's guys

The Pest control guys were just criminals... And Todd was part of that group.  The Aryan Brotherhood dudes didn't get introduced until Todd reached out to his Uncle Jack for assistance on taking out Mike's associates getting hush money - who were in prison.

The Aryan Brotherhood is big in prison and organized gangs/crime... So they aren't Nazis... They're likely Aryan Brotherhood... But get called Nazis because of the symbolism found in their tattoos.

Well, that and the fact that they are white supremacists.

--------------------------------

Todd was eager to get in good with Walt from the git-go.  Right after Mike gives them the speech about never speaking unless they are spoken to, Todd still gets up the courage to go up to Walt and inform him that the house (the first house they are going to cook in) has a nanny-cam and that he disabled it.  And, shortly thereafter is when he tells Walt about his uncle and his connections.

Perusing imdb.com and found a couple of fun little tidbits (that many of you probably already know) ...

- Bob Odenkirk based the character of Saul partially on his real-life agent Ari Emanuel.  Incidentally, Emanuel was also the inspiration for the character of Ari Gold on Entourage.

- The guy who plays Bogdan, Walt's boss at the car wash way back when, was not an actor prior to this role, but was, in fact, a chemistry genius with a phd.

- And I think everybody at this point knows that Jesse was supposed to die in season 1.  I would be curious to know how far out Vince Gilligan had planned the show beyond that, because it would be interesting to see the direction he envisioned without Jesse.

- He also said that he was going to originally have Tio Salamanca as the main antagonist from season 3 on, rather than Gus, so I'd be interested to know how far out he planned the show then as well.

Loving all this speculation and celebration of such a great show in its final week.

Anyone here watch Conan last night? The entire episode was dedicated to Breaking Bad. The main cast were the guests, all the sketches were Breaking Bad related, and even Skinny Pete played in the band. Musical guest were those Mexican guys who sang that Heisenberg song.

I enjoyed it!

Fun fact: Bob Odenkirk also created the "Matt Foley, Motivation Speaker" character played by Chris Farley when he was a writer on SNL. [/quote] From what I read, The Cousins were originally supposed to be a bigger part of the season, with Tio basically holding the power there. But apparently they never really came up with a better ending than the faceoff with Hank, so they went with that.

Eh. Ok I can see that. Kind of being the "orchestrator" of it having the cousins do the bidding.

I liked the cousins kind of. but I felt like there was a little too much of a supernatural vibe to them. like they were ghosts or possessed or something

Tio, not Hector.

I'm not sure about the Saul comment... Saul's character was written by Peter Guold.  So while Bob Odenkirk is the actor of Saul... It really wasn't his call on who Saul was based on.  Did Peter base Saul on Ari Emanuel??  I guess I'm confused.

Bogdan was classic... That would be hilarious with those eyebrows... Would be great to see a flash forward of him getting his car wash back during the credits. LOL

Yeah Jesse dying would've been a bad move back in season 1.  The understatement of the century for anyone who likes Breaking Bad.  Great call by the writers to extend his life cycle in the show.  And brilliant move with Gus.  I was hoping that the Gus battle would've lasted longer.  For some reason I thought the Cartel (think back to the turtle scene) was more horrifying than the Aryan Brotherhood.  Something about Uncle Jack just seems cheesy.  But then we wouldn't had the freaking breakthrough that we've had with Todd's character.  Wow.  That dude is scary.

Who's more evil?  Gus or Todd?  That's one helluva question...

    • Hit my tee shot just into the penalty area and barely found it. Swung hard just in case I hit it. It was slightly downhill with a heavy tailwind. I don't actually hit my 9i 170 yards.
    • Right. The difference between being 120 out and 70 out for me (this is the important part) is negligible and not worth putting other risks into play off the tee.   Ok the argument against driver is that my shot cone is comically large. It puts every possible outcome into play. You can't see the green from the tee so there's a good chance I'd have to wait for it to clear which would slow down play. That's the third tee right in the middle of the firing range there. I really don't want to wait just to hit a terrible shot and I especially don't want to injure somebody. Yea I have no problem playing out of the rough short of the bunker if I'm just going to lay up short of the bunker, but I absolutely need to avoid flaring it right into the penalty area if I'm going to be laying up in the first place. As a general strategy I understand where you're coming from. But since we're specifically talking about me (this is a shot I'm going to have to hit on Saturday), I think the cost is fairly marginal. I hit the ball 8' closer on average from 50-100 than I do from 100-150 from the fairway and rough and the green success % difference is 4%. Bunker might as well be a penalty drop. Based on the data,  Here's my SG:A data compared to a 10: I honestly don't know how to use SG for decision making. That's why I was mostly looking at proximity to hole and green success rate for comparison. I mostly use SG as a way to track my progress. All good. Like I said, I appreciate the discussion. It makes me think. If I didn't want to see alternative/opposing viewpoints to my own I just wouldn't post anything. You should post it! In your own swing thread, of course. It's been a fun exercise.
    • Played my first 2024 round at Pierce Lake. Boomed my first drive down #10 fairway, then slowly slipped into mediocrity. 83 (69.6/131). The high point was going 2 of 4 on sand saves. My sand game is pretty marginal but today I must have discovered the secret for a couple hours.
