If these weather people use the phrase "feels like temperature" one more time, I'm going to rip their tongues out of their mouths.

Working for four hours this morning. Will step foot outside and decide. Not sure what's worse. The weather or the way I've been playing lately.

Definitely not walking if I do go.

It’s going to be 100 today. I am going to the beach and just think about golf.

My golf thoughts often center around how important it is to avoid being in the sand.

Go to a place that doesn't have much of that stuff.

Good thought. Got just the place in mind.

Slip a sand wedge into your picnic basket.  Jump in the surf, practice sand shots, jump in the surf, practice sand shots,  rinse and repeat.  On the final shot of the day hit that ball into the ocean and pull off a Kramer.

I golf in Louisiana, and there are 3-4 solid months where the temperature gets into the 90s. There are also days where temps get into the 100s with the heat index. For me, hydration starts the day before. This means, not drinking any alcoholic beverages the night before. I feel if I have an alcoholic beverage the night before, than I will be playing catch up with my hydration status on the course. So drinking on the course is not an option either.

One other comment I wanted to make, is if you live in these type of temperatures you should get used to the weather. If you stay indoors all the time and decide to go golfing one day out of the week, you will be destroyed by the weather. For me I try to do plenty of outside activities (yard work, exercise, etc...) in the months of March-September. Exposing yourself to the heat more often will help with the fatigue! I was out this last Saturday in 90 degree weather and was able to perform 18 without getting tired. 🙂

I'm 70 years old and I know as you get older, sometimes lack of heat tolerance is a problem.

I'll typically take 3 bottles of Powerade Zero with me and usually include a couple bananas and cheese crackers in my little cooler. I've tried polar hats and those towels you wet, squeeze out and flap, then put on your neck or head.

I just can't manage the heat anymore and I'm afraid I'm becoming a 9 hole golfer. that idea really bugs me.

Like many, I also buy shirts that are supposed to keep cool;er, not that I notice.

What do you guys do that you feel works well for you?

I've had a good day if I don't fall out of the cart...

Many times I take the water from water coolers and douse myself with it every 4-5 holes. Feel very refreshing.
With low humidity here in the Rocky’s, it dries off after a couple of holes.

I don't think I managed it well on Friday, as I woke up Saturday feeling hungover -- despite not having had anything alcohol to drink since Sunday.  Headache for all of Saturday's round, and when I got home, I chugged another PowerAde Zero (despite drinking a full 32 oz one during the round and about 90 oz of water).   No headache today, not that I played much better.

Wear a hat and not a baseball cap. I use a Greg Norman. Good air flow and keeps the sun off my head and neck.

Amazon lists them as women’s. Are they a unisex size/style thing?

I think they're unisex.  Otherwise I'm wearing women's sleeves, but I like them and they're comfortable.

Then again, a week or so ago I asked a friend why similar products don't exist for one's legs before I realized I was describing leggings. 😕

Boca Raton municipal golf course yesterday.  I drank just under a half gallon of water during my 18 and still lost two pounds of water weight in four hours.  Typical.  But that can’t be healthy.  I will be drinking extra today as my mouth will keep telling me that I’m thirsty.

I feel better when I drink fluids with Electrolytes, also wearing lighter colors rather than dark.   Generally the heat index is around 100 for much of 3 months where I live.

As much as I like to wear them, visors can be a no-no in the hot sun during the middle of the summer.

This week, around these parts, the only way to manage the heat is to stay out of it.  I played Monday and was soaked to the skin about half way thru.  We saw two other golfers.  I can see doing 9, very early, but that's it until the humidity drops.

In der bag:
Cleveland Hi-Bore driver, Maltby 5 wood, Maltby hybrid, Maltby irons and wedges (23 to 50) Vokey 59/07, Cleveland Niblick (LH-42), and a Maltby mallet putter.                                                                                                                                                 "When the going gets tough...it's tough to get going."

Agreed. I am in West Tn and played a scramble Monday. It was terrible. I heard someone say "When someone asks what the TN heat is like, tell them to take a shower and put their clothes on without drying off....that's what it's like."

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
    • Day 109- Putting drills on a putting green for 20 minutes.
    • Day 252: did a stack session. Did some slow rehearsal swings during breaks.
    • Day 82: 3/18/24 Tried a Stack session but could not certify my warmup. Finished with indoor chips and putting.
