I think I have enjoyed almost every pairing I have had. I have had at least kind people if we didn't really click. The only experience with a pairing that I have had that could be classified as rude was a group of Guys I got paired with at Windrose Golf Course last year. I was a single and the starter paired us up. I said hello (they said nothing just nodded), and then as I walked up to the tee box they just drove off without playing the first hole lol! They wanted no part of being paired with someone I guess. I caught them a hole or two later and they just waved me through. It was strange.

I belong to a private club and I know most people, so I know what I am getting into when I pair up. The only people who bother me are the self-absorbed types who are extremely self critical the whole time, some profanely, or are just so into their own game that they don't notice anyone or anything else. There are two in particular who I try to avoid but sometimes I can't. One guy, who is a 20 handicap, loudly complains about every poor shot (and there are a lot of them) to the detriment of his playing partners, who have to listen to it all.  Another guy is a very good player and never recognizes anything his playing partners do. Recently I was with him and I hit the best shot I hit all year on a 240 yard par three to five feet (driver, BTW). He had hit his drive into a green-side bunker and made a four, grumbling the whole time about his tee shot until he holed his bogie putt. When I made the birdie, a rare thing on that hole, he said nothing. I don't think he even knew. When he hits a solid shot that may not be 100% to his liking, don't compliment him, he gets insulted. You just have to shake your head and laugh.

Couple weeks ago I ended up joining up with 2 guys who were drinking pretty heavily around 9 am. By the 3rd hole I was aggravated with them but on 6 it got bad. Guy left a wedge on the par 3 6th and comes driving back down the hill toward the green as one of these guys was teeing off. It’s a wedge or a 9 iron to the green and dude missed badly right. When the guy came down asking if anyone found a wedge the guy I’m paired with said no didn’t find one but really appreciate you driving down while I’m teeing off. Didn’t see any reason for him to say that. Just blaming the guy for a bad shot. The pace was slow all day and by the 11th the group in front of us even had me irritated. Well the guys I’m playing with finally drive right through them on 12 and head to 13. I’m a member and not doing something like that. I waited. They let me through on 13.

That’s just extremely rude. The only time I asked not to be paired up with anybody was many years ago when I was playing with my brother, we hadn’t seen each other in years an just wanted some time for ourselves. After explaing this to the starter and the twosome we were to be paired with, everybody understood but we did have to wait for just a little bit to go off as a twosome. Just driving away without saying anything is simply rude.

my get up and go musta got up and went..

One time we had a guy paired with us who was really aggressive, he hated slow play and was constantly driving up on the group in front. Well sure enough he hits one onto the green while the group in front was still putting, then it started! The group in front yells at us, this idiot yells back and next thing I see is the group in front grabbing drivers and walking back towards us. My friend and I walked off to the side of the fairway leaving this guy to fight it out, there was a lot of hollering and screaming but luckily no one was hurt. He stopped driving up on the group in front after that but was bitching the whole day, very uncomfortable.

Drivers?!  In a fight they just snap.  5 iron is the recommended club.  Once, when I was a kid my buddy and I were being robbed at the Forest Park golf course in downtown St. Louis.  We selected 5 irons and chased the guy off.  When he heard our clubs whistle by his head he made the quick exit.
