Ten Reasons Why Winners Win - Quick Commentary

In basketball the goal is to put more points on the scoreboard than the opposing team. I remember the "Showtime" Lakers running teams into the ground. Who needed defense?

In a golf tournament the goal is to finish your round with the fewest strokes among your competitors.

1) Sound body; 2) Sound nerves; 3) Preparation; 4) Execution. Whomever does this the best wins.

Some time ago my favorite Levantine philosopher pointed out that the 7 habits of highly effective people were also habits of highly ineffective people.  I'd say this list is similar in that regard.

I don't particularly care for the list because I've heard enough professionals say something to the effect they wouldn't enter a tournament they couldn't win, but they know they aren't going to win all the time.

My take is this. I think 99% of mental strength on the golf course comes from a physical capability that leads to your confidence. For example, knowing what you can do and repeating it 99% of the time, (how far you hit each club and what your automatic shot shape is), goes a long way towards being able to adopt all that positive stuff in the OP's post.

What % of the time you can repeat will eventually lead to how well you can play the game.

You can read these mantras to yourself over and over, but if we don't practice, get professional help and put in the work, i don't think any of it will matter.

The shanks can't read...
