Yeah, same form as 2007! Nice 78 for the second highest round of the day. I can't wait to hear her excuse, "ummm, well , I thought I had a good round, ummm, yeaah," (...ad nauseam, ad infinitium).

And her swing looks awful with a jerky transition. She's gone from the Big Wiesey to the Big Yankie.

I have no idea how that vacuous brain of hers got her into Stanford. I'd love to know her SATs, I'm guessing she scored in the 70th percentile, at best.

Make NO mistake about it... If you(or anyone, including Wie) has the coin, they can get into almost any University... period

Just another one of the Leadbetter kids going down in flames, perhaps? Actually I'm not entirely sure. Wie's got the talent, and can launch a ball over 300 yards, but her father (and a public who's mostly pulling against her) hasn't exactly helped. Hell, even I admit - I'd watch Wie play, but only in the same way NASCAR fans come hoping for a huge crash.

The worst part of her return to golf is that the golf channel seems to think we need to see every one of her shots. Having her in the field ruined the coverage this week (though it certainly was a great ending).

I have to agree that her swing looks terrible - that transition at the top is so quick that my spine hurts just watching it. I think the only way I'll become a Wie fan is if she:

1) stops pretending she's good enough to play w/ the men and joins the LPGA all ready.
2) fires her parents and bans them from the course.
3) stops saying she played really well and had a great round when she shot 78 (especially when everyone is going really low).
4) gets a new hair cut (OK - this one is optional but did anyone see the interview w/ her at Stanford?)

There are plenty of kids across the U.S. with great grades and no brains. Some schools don't even base valedictorian on grades anymore (my high school - class of '01 - had sixteen valedictorians with GPAs ranging from 2.2 to 4.6. Ponder that for a bit).

It's fully possible that she looked great on her college admission package - how much of her crash came after September 2006 when her package was likely sent?

I still think it's 'likely' that Wie didn't even need her package to look that great(she has plenty of coin).

Even funnier(or sadder); I remember Wie in an interview, maybe two years ago saying: (I'm only slightly paraphrasing).... Like, it's gonna be really great goin' to Stanford. Like, it's like, a really great school... and like, livin' on my own and going to school will be, like, really cool... Plus, like, I will have ALL this free time to like, practice golf and like, hang out.

Top schools that value education still won't let someone in just by virtue of money. They still need to put together a package of some sort. Too bad she isn't living on her own. She might be ahead of the game on the course.

You've got to be almost super-human to get into Stanford: GPA, SAT, Community Service, etc. Kid down the street (4.2+ GPA, almost perfect on SATs, Eagle Scout, etc.) got waitlisted at Stanford. (Don't feel bad for him, he's now heading off to Harvard for his post-graduate work.) Point is, straight A's won't get you in, you've got to be hyper-intelligent. Maybe they accepted her before she went pro thinking she would play golf for them?

This thread is indicative of the problem you all are complaining about...Michelle gets the attention while Paula Creamer who birdied four of the last five holes and wins the tournament gets no mention at all.

I have to agree 100%. I want to see the real professionals play. There is real talent in the field and I am so sick of hearing about her. I hope she goes into the abyss so they can concentrate on the great talent that is there.

I agree, but I don't blame Wie for that. She's not forcing The Golf Channel to follow her around with cameras. That's their choice.
