I'm new back to golf and still trying to keep the costs down. If I'm still golfing and visiting the site in six months then I'll be subscribing - there's definitely more that $36/yr worth of value here.

In the mean time, I've turned off my add blocker for this site and may even click on some of those pesky ads! 😉

Thank you! Membership already reduces the number of ads you see over being a guest, and becoming a Supporter reduces that number again.

BTW, I removed the banner at the top of the site for current Supporters because… it doesn't make sense for y'all to keep seeing a banner saying "Become a Supporter!" 🙂

As a paid supporter, are we supposed to be seeing ads like this? I don't consider them obscene, but some workplaces might not like them. I assume you don't have explicit control over which ads are displayed.

I don’t have specific control but you have some. See those symbols top right? Click them and you can make choices.

I do think that those ads are based at least partly on your browsing history, although you CAN turn off the personalization of the ads by clicking the little arrow at the top right corner of the ad, as @iacas mentioned a few posts back

Erik - decided that it is worth the cost of a local round of golf to do an annual subscription here.  You guys - the entire TST team offer some great advice as well as some really cool levity on the site.

I use an ad-blocker, but I also know that keeping a site up has its costs (have run some non-golf related websites myself), so I am gladly willing to pay.
Even if I have just registered today, I have come here regularly in the past to read, so I have gotten the worth out of it already.
