2019-20 TST Fantasy Golf

Wow, I guess I won’t have to bother checking my roster for the rest of the weekend.  Only one of my players made the cut.

Might as well put him on the bench just to show those other lame professionals how to make the cut... 😎

This was the first event I've had 4 players hanging around for the weekend ...

I get the feeling sometimes these guys make an appearance in these end of the season events and don't care so much, and would just like to have a little family time with the wife and kids.

Anyone else get a bunch of emails saying their players had WD when in fact they had not? Seem to remember the site glitching like this once last year too and they canned the points for the week. Difference was this is a non-cut event and it was locked and you couldn't sub new players in.

Did I miss the deadline for entering?

They are playing the THE CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES  in Korea

It's 11 am there and they are on the course playing.

Yes you missed the DL.

Dang it, two weeks in a row I missed the deadline.  I forgot Korea was in a very different time zone (almost wrote "timeline").

I also started Evan Engram in fantasy football last week, so maybe I'm just bad at this whole "set a reasonable lineup" thing.

Yes. This happened to me during Nine Bridges.

Just checked to see about this weeks tournament and 5 of my 6 selections did not make the cut and the one who did isn't on my play list today.
Oh well there is always next week & I can't do much worse than this week

Hey everyone, a reminder that Segment #2 starts up again next week.

If you are late to the party but want to play, this is a good time to join as Segment 2 of 4 is starting. You won't compete for the season title, but can compete on an equal playing field for the remaining 3 segments.

Just look at the first post in the thread for how to sign up, and the format of the PGA Fantasy league.

Hope everyone is having a good holiday season.

Well the saga continues into 2020 …  🥵
Just when I thought I was going to give you a run for the money this week @gogolfing
my boyz continue to preform poorly when I start them and my bench rocks.

Round One, I omit starting Rickie in the first round.
Round Two, I sit McCarthy and Harman
Round Three, McCarthy comes alive and I cry …
Round four is going to be tough to close a 40 point gap ...

@Club Rat I do cheer for you! One of the long time, hard core guys in TST League

I forgot to check before today's round began, it looks like I'll have 5 players miss the cut this week - my starters combined to go +22 yesterday.
And I'll name names - for this shitty performance I would like to thank Viktor (+7), Rickie (+6), Brooks (+4) and Billy Ho (+3) with Oosty on the bench at +4; only "local" favorite Brian Stuard (-3) did worth a damn for my fantasy team yesterday. And everyone on the course is on the + side already today.

Oh well - next segment starts soon

@gogolfing Thanks for putting this together for the TST group.
Do you know if this starts right up again next week to kick off the 2020/21 season?

@Wally Fairway I had a look around the PGA site, and it did not have any information on the next season, but with the first event next week, I would not be surprised if it does start. Would be a quick turn around with a Monday finish, then a Thursday start on the West Coast with the Safeway Open....we will have to keep our eye on it and get the word out. If you are already registered, I think we can just make picks, then will have to set the League up.

Maybe start the new topic and post the usual bits of info.

Then when you have the updated info to log in and join the group, I can merge that post back up into the first post.

    • I would presume this would apply but..I used to be a horrendous chipper. That 10 yard chip might leave me an 8 yard chip or a 30 yard chip and once in a blue moon might be on the green...then I stumbled across Phil Mickelson's short game video, watched it, worked at it, watched it, worked at it, rinse, repeat multiple times, and now feel like a reasonable chipper. I am not confused into thinking I am "good" but I reliably am on the green, will be in one-putt range anywhere from no to 4 or 5 times a round depending on the day, distance, and lies I had to work on and it feels like I chip one in every 8 to 10 rounds.   But that feels like the exception...his approach is VERY fundamental and it definitely applied to me...my lessons were all full swing, it was a glaring weakness in my game that now feels like a strength...but if I understand your comment correctly, you are saying this is the one time to pay attention to those type videos?
    • although, on rare occasions, that can result in a better location. We were playing a Chapman saturday and had this exact thing...ball on cart path, nearest point of relief no closer to hole actually moved us out from behind a tree. Huzzah for small breaks!
    • Since you said 3 months. I went with the approach of golf course density. No clue if most of them are private or not, but i might be a starting place to check.  Golf courses per square mile | Golf Channel Definitely the NE United States has a lot of golf courses near each other. Stay in a city of Hartford, CT and you would be able to be with in 2 hour drive of golf courses in three of those states.
    • First thing is get a rule book, read it and definitely keep it in your bag.  You don't want to face issues with penalty shots or a DQ for accidentally violating a rule. In terms of how you approach the game, it depends on your personality.  Some people play better under pressure and others prefer a more calm environment.  Depending on what you are like, plan to play accordingly.  For example, you can choose to keep score and know your position at all times or just write it down and ignore it till you tally it up after 18 holes. Definitely practice as much as you can before the tournament, but don't try to make swing changes between now and then.  Also, try to figure out where you are gaining and more importantly losing strokes.  Then plan your practice sessions accordingly.  You definitely want to strengthen your good points and focus on minimising the damage your bad points cause. Finally, definitely ensure you are warmed up on the day before you tee off.  You don't want to take a couple of holes to warm up and find your rhythm.  Losing strokes aimlessly isn't good, especially in a competitive tournament
    • One other club I would suggest, especially if you can try it before you buy, is a mini driver.  You will get these clubs in around 15* of loft, and this is smaller than a driver but bigger than a 3 wood.  My friend uses one and finds it easier to hit off the turf.  Plus the shorter shaft means he has more control than the 10* driver he has almost stopped using.
