This coyote and her buddy hang out on the other end of the driving range where I work. When I practice in the mornings they sit and watch. Pretty cool really.

Played yesterday and we saw 4 sand cranes walk within 15 feet of our cart.   They continued by into somebody's back yard.   I didn't even think to take a pic...(that's what getting old does to ya!)

From the land of perpetual cloudiness.   I'm Denny

My phone just reminded me that this was a year ago today.  I hope the range counts.  Note that I did not hit towards this creature, and in fact, stopped hitting while it was out there.

Fortunately, I assessed the situation at the range and determined that, while I couldn't outrun that creature, I could outrun several others who were hitting balls there, so I was likely safe.  I think in my real camera I have some more photos and possibly a video I can look for if anyone's interested.

Ah, nice ... throwing your range buddies to the bear because they're not as fast as you.  Perhaps the bear was doing natural selection based on GHIN handicap.

Nah, I didn't know any of them ;-)

I saw a pretty big snake on the cart path today. It almost looked like it was going after the cart in front of me before it slithered away.

War Eagle!

  • 2 months later...

Saw a juvenile black bear in the woods off the fairway today. It was loping around in the trees traveling the opposite direction the hole plays so I had eyes on it the whole time. At one point when we got in closer proximity along parallel paths (my ball on the right side, bear in the left trees), it stopped and looked at me so I clapped loudly and yelled at it, and it went on its way. Black bears aren’t uncommon at all in the area (Lake Tahoe), but first time I’ve run into one on a golf course.

Word is Whispering Woods was almost called something like "Gobbler's Ridge" or something like that.

They're everywhere. Big ones.

Herd of elk on the driving range this morning. That was a first for me. Not great picture because they were pretty far away, but you can kind of make them out. There were a lot.
