Dude, the pictures are out there - not that hard to find.

Did you miss this earlier?  :hmm:

When I first saw him earlier this year, he seemed to put on a lot of fat too. The dude had a donut belly. I commented on it earlier in this thread. He seems leaner now. Brooks also looked like he spent a lot of time at Dunkin, and not for coffee.

I’ve never been able to put on upper body muscle like these guys, legs yes. So I have no expertise in this area.

Whats most impressive though is his accuracy. The long drive guys spray it around like high handicappers. BD improved his accuracy.

Having never used steroids myself. (I know, shocking right.) I'm not sure, does "Roid-Rage" cause you to berate unsuspecting cameramen who are just trying to do their job? (That's a joke, not an accusation.)

Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevar. :-$

I concede to your knowledge.

I do know the PGA has an anti-doping policy which I believe includes random blood tests. My guess is that if BDC did use something less than kosher to gain muscle, he may get away with it for a while, but eventually he will get caught. ... at least I hope so. Until then, I'll have to take him at his word.

and @RFKFREAK, given the circumstances, wouldn't he be a prime target for testing?

I understand they have an anti-doping policy but I'm not very familiar with it as in what substances are prohibited, the protocols for testing, and how random it is.  I will say two things, though.  First, professional athletes who do use prohibited substances take every measure to avoid getting caught and generally speaking, the more resources you have, the more options you have.  Second, I can't say what the motivations are of the department that is in charge of testing.  I'm not specifically referring to their view on Bryson but to testing in general.  Sometimes organizations make decisions that aren't aligned with how we think those decisions should be made.  So, when an league or organization makes a statement about how they're handling a situation, I don't necessarily take them at their word.

Well to listen to the announcers you'd think the dude has a doctorate in every science and engineering field their is. Don't get me wrong, I like him as a golfer, I think he's good for the game, but he isn't Nikola Tesla.

Oh, yeah. The next thing you are going to tell me is that Barry Bonds used steroids!!!

Or anyone who actually graduated from college with a degree in physics. He’s an amateur in that regard.

Yeah, I don't think it's clear cut but anytime anyone puts on a lot of mass on in a short period of time that isn't an overwhelming percentage of fat, it's suspect.

One question I might have is how long do steroids remain testable in your system? Do they linger for weeks or even a month like marijuana, or are they something that exits your system in a day or two like some other drugs?

If it's the latter, then it could be entirely possible to bulk up with the help of steroids for a couple months while the PGA is on a break and almost certainly not drug testing, then just focus on trying to keep the gains you made when the season begins again. I'm not entirely familiar with how the specific muscle activation training he's done works, but hard workouts 7 days a week without any days of rest is hard on a body. Certain substances can definitely help to shorten your recovery time and make such a schedule more feasible and sustainable.

I heard a new one today. Somebody on the radio was talking about how Bryson DeChambeau was able to put on so much mass. According to the particular talking head it was because Bryson knows "how to breath".

I guess the idea is if you breath in a certain way you are able to increase the restfulness of your sleep and the effectiveness of your digestion. Both of these in turn help you recover from your workouts. This, supposedly, led to his putting on extra muscle. I forgot the method of breathing he claims works for this so I quickly googled it. Sure enough its called breathing with your brain in a parasympathetic state.

So, there's your answer.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

Ive heard theres some validity to that. My brother in law is one of those strongest man contest guys and he uses a CPAP machine when he sleeps even though he doesnt have sleep apnea. Sleep and oxyengation is apparently  a important part of building muscle mass.

I always figured rumors around Beefcake Byrson and steroids was going to be a thing eventually. Just took him winning a major to bring it out of the closest more. If Bryson were any other athlete in another sport the suspicions would be through the roof after putting on much mass as he has - as quickly as he did. But It seems like he's largely avoided any critical quesitons about it to this point.

Minds with greater knowledge than mine in golf would have to answer that.  I believe that's a graphic he threw up on IG.

We know that neither of these are true. He is somewhere in the low to mid 190s for BS and probably is sitting around 130 CHS. If you watch the tour, you can see this on every hole where there is a trackman. He gets up into the 200s for BS when he is hitting into a net at home, and that's about it.

Are you suggesting he's not being entirely honest bc he posted and promoted the graphic

I suppose so. Something about "brand", lol.

Prioritizing his brand?!  Well I never would have thought he'd do that! 😳😂

What I find most interesting about that graphic is that everything else seems to be accurate (within a couple of points), besides speed. With that ball speed increase we would also expect to see over 50 yards gained, not the 30 that it shows (which is accurate).

What that graphic does not show is "spin rate"; Spin rate will impact distance, a higher spin rate generally results in lower distance overall and a higher ball flight. We know Bryson's trajectory is really high. The other number we aren't seeing is Dynamic Loft; Bryson's driver is, I think it is around 5.5 deg. But based on his trajectory his dynamic loft is a lot higher. Also a higher spin rate generally results in more accuracy; unless of course it results in more side spin.

    • Welcome to TST @Camjr.   We're glad you've joined.
    • Angle is not a factor. I hit the ball 100’ high. Par is net birdie. My CH is 16. The rough between the bunkers is like 10’ wide though. That’s not something you’re going to try to hit on purpose. Most of the area to the left of that is fescue/native vegetation and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a flat lie in any of it. It’s the second hole.
    • Hello all.  I'm about to be 57 yrs old, started playing when I was 16, and have quit and restarted the game more times than I can count.  I had started playing a weekly round with a friend, and finally made the jump to Senior A shafted Tour Edge clubs.  Instantly gained 10 yds with an easier swing (why didn't I make that jump sooner???).  Glad to be a part of the group. Cheers all,
    • I think I like this hole.  It is a clear "Risk-Reward" choice.  Since most of the shots in your cone cleared the bunkers I would say they are a minor risk and not a big issue.  Playing the aggressive line may give you 70ish yards in from what looks to be playable rough while conservative play is 120ish from fairway.  I know you said 70 vs 120 is minor for you but how does the approach angle in impact your results?  I figure both strategies are playing for Birdie since holing out from either is mostly luck. Looking at your proximity hole I think it says @ 50 feet when hitting from the fairway from 100-150 and 40 feet if hitting 50-100 from the rough.  Neither of those is an easy birdie putt.   I like the approach angle from the rough between the bunkers & the adjacent tees over the angle from @ 120 in the fairway but I really do not like the idea of hitting onto the adjacent tee boxes and that may impact my confidence with making the shot.  Also, too far left may be a worse approach angle then from the fairway short of the bunkers. For me this may come down to how confident do I feel when I reach that tee box.  If I am stroking it well off the tee leading up to the hole I would try for over the bunkers and the better angle in but if I am struggling that day I would likely opt for the fairway to take more bad stuff out of play.
