Best round. Ace would be nice, but a great round requires lots of great shots.

Shoot 10 shots worse than your typical score, hit the ball terrible most of the round, make mistakes that annoy you, but have your first ever hole-in-one,

~or~

Shoot your best round ever, passing whatever milestone you are aiming for (break 70, break 80, etc.) by 3 shots, but without a hole-in-one or other "special" holes or shots.

The latter. Holes in one are mostly luck. Scoring low for 18 holes is mostly skill.

Second one. My next major milestone is to shoot par, so yea sign me up for 3-under.

Actually I almost pulled off the first one today. Not exactly 10 strokes over my average, but a hole in one on #12 today instead of par would have been a 90. It’d be like topping a mediocre steak with gold foil, hardly something to get excited about.

I have 4 aces so #2 for sure.  Woo hoo, a 67!!!

Maybe I read it wrong or just think totally different than everyone else. I read both as a stand alone type event. Like you have that score one time, but never play that good again. Obviously if it means I had a significant breakthrough in my game and had that game the it would mean more in that context. But I'd still take the ace over a stand out one time only great score overall.

Maybe. Nothing in the scenario states you’re never going to play that well again.

No contest, #2.  As @iacassaid, an Ace is mostly luck as evidenced by the fact I have one.  I’ll take the great round and keep the scorecard on my desk to brag about.

I stipulated in the WYR that it would be your FIRST hole-in-one.

Anyone care to change their answer?

FWIW, my answer is that I'm taking the hole-in-one. I don't have one. They are indeed largely a matter of luck, but you need an awful lot of luck to actually get one. I've been close, but never had one, so if it's a freak wish thing, I'll use it for my hole in one. I believe that best round of my life is still in me, and am happy to enjoy the journey of getting there.

No question about it the second one. A hole in one would be great and all but it’s not something I think about much or “really” want. If it happened ya great but a personal best round by three shots would make me feel a whole lot better and have me buzzing for a while.

I'll take hole in one every time. I've had bad rounds and they are frustrating, but I've never had a hole in 1, so easy choice for me.

The hole-in-one with this perspective. My best round for the last five years was an even par 71 where I choked on the 18th hole to blow breaking par. Five weeks ago I finally broke par with- you guessed it- a 68. Would I trade that 68 for a hole-in-one - no. But now that I have it, I want a hole-in-one.
The other thing I would say is this- how many times has someone asked you if you ever had a hole-in-one versus how times have you been asked, “what’s your best score ever?”

I'll take the norm+10 w/the hole-in-one.  Never had an ace, so I want one.

I got my "best round" scenario--almost exactly as you describe it--last May when I broke 80 for the first time ever--firing a 76 with no special holes...just a single (tap-in) birdie on #18.  So now, I want the elusive "1".  If I hack around and fire a 92 in getting it, it'll just add a little color to the story.  The 1 on the card would fit just fine between two 6s. ;-)

Would you rather #54:

Think of this in a golf context. You can also comment on how it might affect your day to day life, but remember this is in the context of playing golf.

The average height of a male in the US is 69" (5 foot, 9 inches) tall, female is 64" (5 foot, 4 inches)

Would you rather be extremely tall, say 7 foot for a male, or 6'6" for a female?

or

Would you rather be not particularly tall, say 5 foot even for a male, or 4'9" for a female?

(If you already are one of these heights then feel free to chime in how it's good or bad for golf, or life.)

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

For golf, I'd prefer to be short. I deal with enough mid-40s niggling injuries already, and I feel like extremely tall people are much more injury prone (unsupported take). Also might be hard to get clubs fitted correctly.

I would think the taller you are the more vertical the swing path would be and the club face can travel on the target line longer making it easier to square the face. I am 5’-9” and the swing plane for my driver is a lot flatter than my 58* wedge. More adjustments to make IMO.

As I am 5’-6” the shorter end of this “would you rather” hits close to home.  I have friends who are pretty tall and I see the issues they deal with.  Somehow I see the taller you are the more “athleticism” is expected.  Have a good friend who’s 6’-6” and is expected to always crush the ball.  Life in the short lane seems to be an easier route in golf based on what my experience has been, therefore I will keep to the short side.

Good question. Well 5ft people already have many options for clubs. But I have a video saved of James Du Preez who is 6ft 10in. Played 1 PGA Tour event, and multiple mini tour events. They said, he averaged 370yds off the tee. I don’t know, 2in more doesn’t sound bad.

I thought maybe shortly after the first injection I was going to be able to start playing again with therapy but the pain while doing my backswing past halfway just didn't subside like just lifting my hands up in the air did. So today the Orthopedic surgeon put more in the backside of the shoulder than before to address the tendon more. I'm going to try therapy for another 3 months and if I  can't swing the club without pain then I think surgery is going to be my next option.

I hit my ball into the deep rough near some tree's and my cousin's husband offered me his Sim 2 Rescue Hybrid to try out. And I felt the same way, wow! I loved it, it also had a Pure DTX grip on it which I loved. As soon as I got back home, I ended up buying two used Calloway Rogue X hybrids, 3 and 5. So far I've only tested them out at the range, but I love them. They're much more forgiving than irons for me.
