Thanks for this!  I looked a few Youtube videos and it looks as though it may work for me.  (I'll try anything at this point). Lately, I've been playing 6-8 holes of par to bogey golf and then it all falls apart and it's back to "overweight" really FAT shots!  I stay away from golf for 1-3 days, go back and it's either feast or famine...and I have no idea why.

Appreciate all the advice and counsel!  I know I need to just stay away from the game for awhile, find something else to do on an 83 degree day instead of watching football and finally may have to admit I need to see a Shrink!  HA!

Thanks all and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hmmmm, interesting! Your comment about fat shots caused me to go back and look at the original pic you posted. In addition to flipping, look at your body position. You're not turning your body through the swing.  Your body is very static. That can lead to fat shots. Forget the shrink and find a workout facility that concentrates on flexibility. We all lose that as we age, and need all the help we can get with it!

I moved to the west coast so I could play more than the 5 month Prairie season. I have played 150 rounds a year for the last 2 years and am at 140 so far this year. Frost delay this morning. I do have spells where I struggle but I persevere as I really love to play. Injuries/illness is tough to deal with i think. I am also taking a few lessons right now to make sure I don't get too many bad habits.

Well, Arizona is an acquired taste.  Sand is sand.  After a while all the granules start to look the same.  Kind of like that old soap opera intro.

Both our boys ended up there.  I actually love playing golf mid-week in the Summer. Get a late morning tee time and you’ve got the place to yourself.  Winter brings all the snowbirds.

We talked about moving there, or maybe splitting some time during the year, but in all honesty I don’t think we could adjust to the desert life.  It has to be a tough transition for you, especially from a place with all the trees and water.

I don’t have a solution, but I wouldn’t think your other lifestyle changes are a good thing.  If you can’t find other interests, maybe find a part time job.

Thx John...yes, AZ is definitely something to which one must acclimate!  My wife has RA and being in Palm Springs at a condo from January through March of this year really helped her!  So, we looked there and the taxes are the reason we chose AZ.

Where I play golf is definitely "target golf" . You just gotta hit the green grass and not all those sand pebbles!  I bought four dozen of the Costco Kirkland balls (they are actually quite good! And a lot cheaper than my TaylorMade ball of choice) After a two-week layoff, I went back to the range today to just chip and hit a few pitch shots.  Getting through the ball with club-head momentum really helps and I tend not to “flip” at impact so much.  There is a great teacher down here at the Superstition Golf and Country Club.  His name is Mike Malaska.  His Youtube videos are excellent!  Attached is a photo from one of the holes at Dinosaur Mountain Course in Gold Canyon.

Thx again and Happy Thanksgiving!

    • Day 76 - Pretty sore today, so I opted for putting over my Stack session. Primary focus was on starting line, as my putting has been pretty poor this year.
    • Been a bit of delay in updates but I needed to come back east as my mom's health has taken a serious turn for the worse. In a 3 day span we learned she had a tumor to she has stage 4 cancer and stopped eating and drinking for the most part. She has had a rough 3 months but certainly didn't think we'd be at the point of setting up hospice for her. My mom was never into any sports really other than following the Red Sox because my dad was a big fan. She always cared about what we were involved in including asking about how golf went.  I have kept up with my 5 minutes of daily practice and will go to the gym here in NH tomorrow morning. Despite the somber nature of this trip my family has commented more than a few times about my weight loss so it's important to me to keep it up. I know my mom always wanted us happy in whatever we did so I'll continue with my fitness journey keeping that in mind.
