My radar says my best swing is near 90 mph with the driver and it's not any slower on video than any 100+ mph swings I see on youtube, I wonder how people get those numbers and how pros hit like 100 mph with just their irons, I just cant imagine it when I'm swinging at 90 mph and at this speed I already cant see the club head moving near the ground.

In a thread this past Spring you said that there's nothing you can do to improve your technique, but I'd bet that you're wrong.  You might want to consider posting a video of your swing, there are folks on this website who can help you improve your swing mechanics, which could lead to increased swing speed and improved distance and consistency.

Unless you already have a perfect swing, or some physical limitation that impede certain mechanics, there are gains that can be realized from better technique. After taking lessons for a year, my swing speed has increased about 10 mph from having a better swing (I definitely haven't gotten in any better physical condition). In addition to higher club head speed, I am making much better contact with the ball. I started the year with about 95-98 mph swing speed (driver), and now I top out around 108 mph, and probably average around 105 mph.

I'm considering Superspeed training device for the winter when I won't be playing as often.

You say your swing looks just as fast as 100mph swings on video, but that might be an overall view of it.  You might be just as fast for most of the downswing, but in reality the speed at impact is slower because you’re not accelerating through the ball.

It would be interesting to see what your speed is without the ball.  I’m not an instructor so I don’t know if this is a good test or not, but if it is faster, you should be able to make adjustments that will increase you speed at impact.

If you look at guys who really bomb it, from amateurs to tour pros, very few of them astonish you with how hard or fast they swing. It's the economy of movement - mechanics -  and timing that generate the speed, power and consequential distance. TIMING is everything.

If you played with Marc Leishman, for example you'd  be amazed at how far he hits it, but he wouldn't look as if his swing speed was super fast.

Isn't that video in slow motion? Why would you choose a slow motion video to prove your point about swing speed? Even Cameron Champ's swing speed looks slow when it's in slow motion.

Of course the video is in slow motion. My point is that you can't see any outrageous moves which make him look as if he's doing something superhuman. I didn't post it to represent swing speed. I posted it to demonstrate how power is generated by rhythm, timing and tempo.

It is possible that you could have done this yourself, but here is a normal speed video to help prove my point:

I think this is great....it’s like those damn Cheetah videos where they’re always in slow motion!! Who the hell wants to see the fastest land animal in the world  running slow motion!? It’s like showing the world’s tallest tree like this: LOL.

    • The dreaded 6 o'clock shadow. 🤣
    • 47+49 for a 96. Just lost it today. Two way miss off the tee. Could not hit a decent iron. Three putted like at least 8 holes. Not good when the short game is the best part of the day 😭😭
    • Phillyk is very close by. Ok, I understand how the watch and tags are meant to be used, but I was just curious how it actually works. I can't really think of any other way than what I mentioned above. No worries. If it works it works. I'll probably pick one up. My co-worker mentioned a free app called 18 Birdies which offers similar services. However I personally do not like keeping my phone in my pocket while golfing, nor do I want to be clicking around on the phone while out on the course. I toss my phone in my bag and leave it there until I am done golfing. Tapping a club head to a watch seems wat more convenient.
    • Yes, but not always the case. IMHO, green speeds are a huge variable and can effect score variation from week to week or month to month significantly. Our own course that is running at about 8-9 depending on the week/day, can run up to 12 (no kidding) in peak months around certain event, and most like me score 3-4 shots higher on an average, missing a lot of 3-4 footers. There are any PCC adjustments that I am aware of. Have you every played their course? I am betting $20 you will find some answers if you haven't already.
