allow me to be the one to congratulate Adam Scott on a solid win!

I agree.  I was starting to wonder if he was going to lose it there at the end, but, he kept it together.

I’m glad Scott beat Kuchar because then we wouldn’t Have to hear all the questions about how much his caddy is getting. 😜

I was pulling for Rory though.

They should have a Northern Swing this time of year. Play indoor golf like the rest of us suckers.

I have been looking at irons all winter, but I have been told three times that the launch monitors are not that accurate. Here they are short, so are the one’s on TV long? Are they really hitting that Maverick 345 yards?

Much easier to hit super long drives on the golf course than on a monitor, generally.

Monitors don't have downhill, downwind, or slopes and humps on fairways that can really add to rollout.

It never ceases to amaze me watching some of the tee shots at Augusta bounce and roll sometimes 70 yards

Or uphill, wet conditions, or slopes and humps on fairways that can reduce or even eliminate rollout...

I watched it and it was ridiculous how on the same par 4 Rory shot a triple and Adam a double bogey. They both chipped from behind the green, hit the upslope and exchanged their positions almost exactly. Makes me feel better about my game 🤣

That is true, but beside the point.  We were talking about long drives.  Not short ones - those rarely get mentioned on TV (or in real life either!).

The point is, it’s not necessarily easier to hit a longer drive on the course.  In many cases, it’s harder to do so.  But, 180 mph ball speed is 180mph, whether it’s on a monitor or on the course....

How about this:

It's easier to hit a long drive on the course.

It's also easier to hit a short drive on the course.

As it applies to Tour golf on TV, these guys are often hitting to a downslope knowing they'll get a huge bump.  And they're good enough to do it.  They're not a bunch of 15 handicaps randomly bumping it off mounds and soggy patches at the local club.

Put another way:  It's easier to hit a ball 340 yds on a golf course with favorable conditions than on a launch  monitor.  On a monitor (that's properly calibrated and set up) you have to earn every bit of it.
