For those of you that have played, did you wear a face mask?

I am thinking of playing on Thursday - first time in a couple of months - and am considering wearing a face mask while playing.

I've played 6 rounds in the last 6 days. I'll take tomorrow off, as is my custom, and then it's another 6 rounds over 6 days. I haven't seen anyone with a mask on the golf course. After all, we're not 6' apart, more like 60' apart.

Haven't seen a mask on the course (but on a starter).  Not to be a cynic, but masks are highly recommended for those times you are in crowded areas and social distancing isn't feasible, like grocery stores.  Not hard to maintain your distance on the course.

It's the tee boxes and the greens I am concerned about.  Some research showed aerosolized virus can travel upto 27 feet.

MD still shutdown, and heard WV shutdown last night, at least the course close to me.

Jumped the border to VA today, so many MD and WV plates in the parking lot.

I am thinking, on a golf course, a face mask is overkill.  And I am one of the more cautious people.  Besides, that thing in my view on my backswing would throw me off.  The bill of a cap throws me off.

Just don't jump the border to Rhode Island...

this seems to indicate we should wear a face mask.

That's been refuted as often as it's been vouched for, too.

An MIT researcher says gaseous clouds could carry droplets of all sizes up to 27 feet, though doctors contend 6 feet is adequate against coronavirus.

For example… the above there.

But anyway, as this is the golf topic… I'll keep it to just that.

😄  I'd take the pic if I could even get on a course.  I have a new driver coming in a few days and I'm already sizing up sneaking onto an abandoned range here in town to try it out.  They closed about 6 months ago, mats are gone, yellow balls are gone and the grass didn't grow that much over winter.  There aren't any "No Trespassing" signs and the gate is unlocked... checked it out yesterday.   I may need a paper bag for this caper or hope the arresting officer is a golfer, too.  He/she would understand.

Forget pics.  I want to see a video of trying to hit a golf ball with a paper bag over his head.  That would be something.

Back to the topic at hand...

Seems some people here are trying to force the governor to close all the golf courses.  If it happens, I hope it's after Thursday - after I get a round in.

The local police shut down the country club.   They can't even walk on it because people were walking with their golf clubs and golf hasn't been approved by our governor.   Golf won't happen in Michigan until she says it's acceptable.   My guess, mid to late July.

In theory you should be able to hit a golf ball with your eyes closed.  But yes, a paper bag may be a distraction...

Great information.   How the heck are courses in states like Michigan and Minnesota going to recover if maintenance isn't allowed?   This sucks.

Had a situation like this locally. A nearby course was owned by the city of Warren, and run by a guy who paid them a percentage of the profits. Then they found out he'd been ripping them off for years. They fired the guy and I believe lawsuits were filed. They closed the course without maintenance, and the place turned into a hayfield!

Hello,

any southern Californians here know of any ranges that are open? Seems to me like opening a range, and possibly only utilizing every other bay could be done safely. But as far as I know only private clubs are open. Any info would be appreciated

    • This is pretty much how I look at it.  I understand there are times when the piece of mind has value. I think over the long haul I'm money ahead by never buying the extended warrantee. Hell, What do I know? I went to Ch!cago PubIic SchooIs.

    • On my car I got the extended power train warranty. I do read the fine print most of the time. Though at now 37, my eyes aren’t what they were 10 years ago.    The problem with most of these extended warranties on electronics and appliances is you don’t register the warranty with the place you buy the warranty from, which I’ve always found strange. Unless it’s GameStop then you know Alina drops her Switch in the next two years and the screen cracks they’ll replace it. No questions asked.    You buy a slow cooker at Walmart for $50 and the extended warranty is say $6, you have to go through a third party to register your product for the warranty, and it’s pretty damn annoying. Target is the same way. Anything you buy the extended protection on you have to go through a third party.    Why do retailers go through a “broker” for warranties? Because they don’t wanna deal with it? They make me talk to someone from another country, that I can barely understand, when I need my warranty fulfilled.   Sorry for the rant.
