Because that would make sense. I've wondering the same thing about courses here. Why not punch them while they are closed, but most courses are open with restrictions now.

We're open and our course just aerated.

Our City owned courses are still closed. It would be nice if they would punch them now. I would do the tee boxes and fairways too. I don't think you would need to sand-fill the fairways or tee boxes. The plugs would dissolve naturally with all the rain we are supposed to get in the next week. It would do wonders for those courses.

More and more courses are starting to open up here in the Denver area. The one I play most frequently will be opening back up on Saturday. And then aerating Monday.

Why they couldn't aerate when the course was closed, I have no idea. Maintenance was allowed while the course was closed for play. I won't be able to play for a while anyways, but it's still annoying.

Could it be they were waiting for appropriate soil temperature? Around here it’s been in 60s so many courses aerated. Fairways and tee boxes would be fine to do when it’s on colder side. But to do greens, theyd want good growth first. Otherwise itll take quite a bit longer to come back.

It's possible, but other courses around here were aerating around April 1st (while closed).

While more courses do seem to be opening up, this snow will likely keep the courses closed until sometime next week (Maybe I should post this in "Winter Depression" thread).  Up where I am, we got about 8-12 inches and its still coming down.

I hear more snow on Thursday.  So my guess is most of the courses won't be open this weekend.

Latest clarification from the Governor's office is private or membership courses may allow play as long as no club employees are there, other than grounds crew.  Twosomes or single players walking and observing social distancing.  Equity clubs can vote to allow play.  Non-equity private club's ownership may choose to allow their members to play.  Public courses with memberships may also do the same.  No play for pay.

i expect some private courses to allow play.  As I am not a member anywhere, my vacation continues.  Sigh.

Played last Thursday and hit it really good, have a 2:10 today.  No rakes etc, one per cart, unbelievable weather and the course is greening up nicely.

All courses open down here, it's just not as many folks down here I reckon.

Not sure if this graphic was already posted, it's two weeks old, but a snapshot of that's going on.

Kill slow play. Allow walking. Reduce ineffective golf instruction. Use environmentally friendly course maintenance.

Honolulu and Lana’i it’s a no go, I think every mayor shut the courses down public and private but Big Island may not have. On Lana’i the cop actually came up to the free public course and told everyone to leave, but you can sneak up quietly with just few clubs and 1 or 2 players. Honolulu first had the muni’s closed then they forced by decree the private courses close as well. Too bad because the muni’s on Honolulu are set up good for social distancing with the starters behind some cage. Too bad, I got all this time off, and can only swing practice balls in the backyard.

I was at the grocery store yesterday and was thinking to myself "how is this anymore dangerous than golf would be?" But alas, every golf course and most ranges in NJ are closed.

Theres stuff you can do to limit the risk of infection and still have golf.  Like perhaps only one person to a cart, no removing or touching the flags, limited traffic in pro shops and only every other stall used at ranges. Even requiring only mobile pay options can be used in order to eliminate touching. Its better than nothing..

Well, all I k ow that here in Washington I am not counting on being able to golf, or fly fish which is my other hobby for the very foreseeable future.   Governor seems to be hinting at not opening anything up for quite some time
