Maybe if the mechanism was internal. Right now the side with the red line isn't circular.

You might be able to do something using a section of tube from the bottom plate to a distance a few inches above the green surface, instead of the metal rod shown in the video and the sketch.  Most commercial flagsticks are 1/2 inch diameter, and the rules allow up to 3/4 inch.  Its conceivable that you could still be conforming to the dimensions using thin metal tubing with tight tolerance.  Of course, that would almost certainly get gummed up with grass clippings between the flagstick and the tube, so its probably not a good idea.

the only thing wrong with this car is the nut behind the wheel.

Yeah, I thought of that, but I figured it would get dented up, gummed up, etc.

Let's just put a frog in every hole whose job it is to pop the ball out after it's holed. 🙂

As long as there are no gophers, that will work.

And the frog should ribbit ribbit ribbit in celebration of a birdie putt. Heaven forbid that anyone makes a hole-in-one on the fly... poor frog.

Well it happened to me again. I "holed" a 60' putt. It looked to me like it was tracking straight for the center of the cup and hit the PVC pipe they put in the hole, but it bounced out to slightly over 2' so I wasn't sure if it should count at that speed. The ball did bounce on the downhill side of the hole so that possibly made it roll farther. My playing partner who had already finished the hole and was standing by the flag seemed pretty confident it would have dropped, so I counted it. He wasn't one of those "if it hits the liner it counts" people, either, so I did take his opinion into consideration. Ultimately, a single stroke difference isn't going to matter in a round that won't even factor in my index, so I made birdie :-D

I did make a 30' putt later in the day that was a no-doubter. Hit the center of the cup and bounced six inches.
