Just bought the videos as a Christmas present to myself.  I read the book, but it's been a while. Looking forward to brushing up on the concepts and coming up with a plan for practice over the winter into spring.

Love it.

You can share the coupon code here with the group, @Wanzo. 🙂

Recently picked up the book again to prep for an end of the month golf trip.. question regarding shot zones - how can one do this somewhat accurately without access to a trackman?

Can you hit toward a target on the range and then estimate where the shots land?

Do you have access to a Mevo+ or something like that, even to borrow?

Hmmm I will have to ask around. I may be able to rent a trackman bay for an hour for the cost of a lesson.

Bought the videos just get a visual representation of key #5 drills, very worth it!

Any new codes for the videos? I bought the book for myself around Christmas. I absolutely loved it! It's improved my aiming and club selection dramatically. Shot a 45 yesterday with no 7s! 2 GIRs and 4 nGIRs, plus a 2 putt birdie! If I didn't hook my last 2 drives OB, I would've finished with a 42. My wife got me a range pass, so I'm looking forward to applying the drills from the book. I'm going to break 90 this season, I can feel it!

I was going to PM you, but this is golf, so I expect people^ to be honest.

You can save $30 (or 30%, I forget which, we may have changed it to a % for foreign currency reasons) with the coupon code: LSWBOOK30.

^ Other people, who aren't you, who may find this coupon code. We just ask that you're honest: you'll get the book AND the videos for the price of the videos alone if you buy both.

Discovered the forum and the video set recently. Awesome videos BTW!

Enjoyed the ideas behind separation value and the five keys. I was familiar with Mark Broadie's work on shots gained and some of the statistics he gathered on pros and amateurs. The ideas behind separation value are much cleaner in spirit, and very easy to put into action. I have been practicing in my basement during the lockdown with the separation values in mind --- hoping to see some gains on the course soon!

The driver was my nemesis for a long time to the point where i didn't have a driver in the bag for around 3 years or so. It just wasn't reliable enough for me to use it. But I have been putting in work during the off season to get that back in play.

    • As do I. It looks nice, but they practically put a big X in the middle of every hole in terms of where to play from. Lawsonia Links had options. You could kick the ball off a mound 70 yards away and have it roll towards the green. @DaveP043 did that on 9 and had a tap-in birdie. Our group had a pretty good discussion about the options on 13, where you can try to take on the slope but risk the ball rolling down and facing a blind uphill 100 yard shot, or laying up to 150 and having a perfect view of the green.

    • I have a rules question that came up during league play on Wednesday. I'm not sure the ruling, and haven't been able to figure it out for sure. We have some differing opinions and so thought I'd post. Player A, a 37 HCP hooks a tee shot left, about 40 feet into tall thick grass. Amazingly, we find his ball, he'd have been better off if it were lost. It's really thick and difficult.  At this point, he could take an unplayable, and go back and hit another shot from the tee, stroke and distance. Or, under a usga model local rule we use could take two penalty strokes and drop it out near or in the fairway. (edit: since the ball is not lost, he can't use the model local rule). But, instead, he takes a few swings at it, whiffing, and then managing to advance it about a foot or two. Eventually, gives up, tosses a club and asks what he can do. Now, it's not a penalty area, so he can't play from where it crossed any boundary, it's just thick grasses. Going back on the line is also not possible because the thick grass extends the entire length of the course. So now that he's taken some swings, what are his options to continue. Stroke and distance no longer apply, at least with respect to going back to the tee box because more strokes have been made at the ball. I see only  1) take a series of unplayables, two club lengths at a time until he is clear of the thick grass. 2) lift the ball using the unplayable rule, place it somewhere playable (but more that two club lengths), and take whatever penalty is due (maybe 2 strokes for playing from the wrong place?). What else?  My groups consensus is that he has no options, and he's gonna be there until dark hacking away at it. (Assume stroke play, because if it were match, he could just concede the hole)
