Saturday (Practice) at CHQ:

  1. @georgep
  2. @Hardspoon
  3. @BradSomrak
  4. @Bonvivant
  5.
  6.
  7.
  8.

Sunday (Playing) TBD:

  1. @saevel25
  2. @georgep
  3. @Hardspoon
  4. @BradSomrak
  5. @Bonvivant
  6.
  7.

We'll take up to ten people on Saturday, btw, but once we get to six I'll basically be able to say the entire day is for TST practice/lessons/etc.

The practice facility here has our own range (for instruction, practice), three putting greens, one of which has a bunker and is good for chipping/pitching, and a lower one that's good for putting and chipping/pitching, with three 150-ish yard practice holes. All included in the $78 with my instruction. (Again $60, my junior rate, for the never-ending all-day revolving lessons, and $18 for the day pass for the facility.)

But anyway, we're at four, so once two more people commit to Saturday, it becomes an "all-day" thing, and we can start and end at slightly different times than the 9-3 I proposed. Could do 10-5, could do 9-5 if we get more people, etc.

My calendar shows me open for that weekend. I have to check with "The One Who Must Be Obeyed". She's in a meeting right now, upstairs in her office. Maybe I'll go press my face against the glass window of her office until she waves me in.

Oh btw, if I come will @iacas sign my copy of LSW?!?!

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Trying to figure out what do with my wife for that weekend. We are new to the area and I hate for her to have to play the golf widow. Looking to see if there would be things for her to do. Looks like the second day would most likely be in PA. Is the waterfront developed in Erie? Are many restaurants and attractions open?

Cool guys. Is everyone on the list?

BTW I’m happy to expand hours Saturday and also reduce cost slightly if we get more people. So keep filling it up as the more the merrier.

We can go beyond those as needed, and we'll work out "shifts" or something on Saturday for the "lessons" so everyone isn't wanting to start working on "things" at the same time. The whole day Saturday is for y'all now, so that's good.

Is this something where we could spend all day there if we wanted to too? Just to be around golf and new people? If this is the case, I wouldn't mind taking an afternoon slot. I've never had any kind of lesson and wouldn't mind waiting and just moseying around and warming up.

I can tentatively do both days!

My driver has been on point of late but I've forgotten how to hit and iron and wedge.

Yeah, you can spend all day there. Right now we don't need much "afternoon" time. If we have eight, my plan would be for people to start showing up between 9 and 10:30. If you're going to be a later "lesson" you can putt or chip for awhile, with some others, and if you're going to be an earlier lesson you can warm up and get into it a little bit.

But you can easily spend the day there. There's a decent lunch place (just takeout subs, a small grocery store) not far away, and we might even eat outside as a group that evening at Andriaccio's there in CHQ.

If we go beyond 8 or 10, we can make "shifts" of sorts, as people will not want to be there for nine hours straight (then again, what else do you have to do, since you can also just bring a book and take an hour-long break 😄?), but you know… 😉

    • Okay, so last night I went to my local place that does PXG fittings. I had every intention of testing out the PXG Allan Putter... which I did. But then, I ended up making either the greatest purchase ever or the worst. Time will tell. I ended up getting fit for and buying a PXG secret weapon... Yeah, I impulse bought a mini-driver.  🤷‍♂️ Clearly PXG saw me coming. Because it's a really good looking club and ... I like shiny things. They've done a great job on the look of this mini driver. I mean it looks great. When sitting down by the ball it looks like a 3-wood. It's actually kind of hard to tell from the top which is bigger the 0311XF or the Secret Weapon. But then you pick it up and realize there's more face than a 3 wood. I think the best way to describe it would be it's the look and color scheme of the Black Ops 3-wood, but the footprint of the 0311XF with a slightly taller face. Which in my opinion looks awesome.  My swing right now is a bit of a work in progress. But I was able to hit the club off the deck and off a tee, with about a 10 yardish advantage hitting off the tee. I also found I had the best results teeing it pretty low. I know, I was hitting it off a mat, so I had a perfect lie every time, but I was very surprised how well it performed off the deck. Currently I don't try to hit my 3-wood unless I get a perfect or near perfect lie anyway, so I think this club will be just fine as a 3-wood replacement.  One thing that was kind of cool, is the best shaft for me turned out to be the Hzrdus Black, 6.0 60. It was a pretty clear winner; Even in terms of feel. That shaft is one of the no upcharge shafts. I will say the Ventus Blue 6 Velocore performed very well. The Ventus Blue 6 Velocore is $300 upgrade. The Ventus also looked great. It's a great color, but the Hzrdus actually gave me better numbers so kudos to the folks at Project X.  Lastly, I broke all my personal rules when it comes to buying golf clubs.  1 - Never buy a club after only hitting for one session. Come back and see if you can repeat the results before buying .... I didn't do that. I just bought it.  2 - It's always a good idea to wait until the newest models come out and then buy the previous or even 2 years back models deeply discounted. ... I didn't do that.  3 - Never impulse buy a club. Always be certain the club fills a certain need in your bag. ... I didn't do that. I was perfectly happy with my 3-wood, until....  4 - Always bring the club you want to replace with you so that you can test it side by side on the same day against the new club. .... I didn't do that either.  5 - Never buy new clubs while you are in the middle of a swing change. ... Looks like I'm 0 for 5.  So, I'm probably an idiot for impulse buying a mini-driver. But man, it's so cool. And I can't wait to get it.
    • Feels are personal. Some people will feel like it's a hit, some will feel like it's a swing. Some will feel like it's one and then have other swings, even in the same round, that feel like the other. "Swing" and "hit" are feel words.
    • I have reviewed the entire Swing Thoughts forum and this question has been answered many times in many ways. I am posting to seek help in clearing my own thoughts. Hogan says for the average golfer to "keep any conscious hand action out of his swing". 6 pages later he also says "Hit the ball as hard as you can with both hands".  This appears to be a contradiction. My drives are respectable (I can find them) when I focus on swinging with loose wrists. If I try to "hit" the ball it all turns to doo doo. Strangely, I can "hit" a 7 iron - and it is more satisfying than just swinging at it! I have been told that my swing is fast. Advice please
