This is rediculous. I love Tiger, but he was in 3rd of 4th place this tournament and this just happened. Watney just got a quadruple bogey, puting him down to -4. And then Bryant, the current leader because of that, just hit his in the water. Making Tiger the new leader.

I find that really weird and crappy to see that.

The tougher the course the better Tiger does in Tournaments. Hes an unbelievable player in the wind i think people underestimate that

Amazing what happens to people when they find out they've got a slight lead on Tiger

Just kidding: at that course, anything can happen - and it does! At the very best, he's got a share of first going into tomorrow. He's pretty good when he has that going, but he might be part of a logjam at first. He won't own it outright - Sean O'Hair will share it with him, as they're in the clubhouse with the same score. And O'Hair has won more recently. Not that that would mean anything even if it were a rank-and-file PGA Tour winner, much less Tiger. But I think it means he'd be less likely to fade away than someone who hadn't won on TOUR playing with Tiger. And we know O'Hair goes for the win, not to protect second. Tomorrow could be interesting.

I could have sworn that I saw on here yesterday someone type " If Tiger pulls this tournament out, I will eat a Sleeve of Pro V1's. "

This is the only reason I came back into this thread, but I guess someone edited their post.

I expect whoever it was to own up to it, and make a video of this happening. Tiger by 3 tomorrow.

Thanks Iacas, Hopefully plain. I think seasoning would ruin the natural flavor.

I don't think it's any secret the conditions got worse as the day progressed. Sean O'Hair, Hunter Mahah, Tiger, etc. got their rounds in fairly early compared to the leaders, and that helped a ton. But you have to give them credit for taking advantage and executing (Tiger hit some great shots when the conditions started getting tougher).

I'd be surprised if Tiger loses tomorrow, but I'd love to see O'Hair or Mahan pull it out.

I'll be pulling for Hunter Mahan, he's starting to become my main guy now that Duval has gained 150 lbs and stopped caring about golf (whole other topic for a different time). I would love to see long hittin' Bubba Watson win too.

Either way, I have a feeling we're in for a great finish tomorrow, man today was certainly exciting to watch!!

I wanted to see Bubba Watson and T-WOOOOO paired. They play practice rounds together and try to hit it further than each other. Bubba always tells him about it too.

ohair needs to recover from the choke on 17 at the TPC last year. it will be great to see how o'hair's game is when paired with No. 1

O'Hair won last weekend, but the situation was completely different. He is the co-leader heading into tomorrow, and he will have to match shots with Mr. Woods in the final pairing. A solid showing tomorrow will elevate O'Hair, but I can't see it happening.

I expect a few great rounds early like we saw today, so the leaders going into tomorrow may not be leading when they tee off. That being said, Tiger will probably have it wrapped up by the par-5 12th hole. It would be nice to see O'Hair or Mahan play well and challenge Tiger, but Vijay will probably end up finishing 2nd. He bounced back really well today, and he will probably play pretty solid tomorrow on the heels of that.

All in all, I just want some decent golf. I would like to see things go down to the last hole, but wouldn't we love that every week?

In case this was in response to my comment:

I don't doubt that Woods is going to win, short of an insurmountable lead brought on by someone that isn't currently in the lead, such as if Vijay were to shoot a 59 in the Sunday round. The reason I said it would be interesting - and I probably could have phrased it better - is that many players, tied with Tiger after 54 holes, play to protect second instead of taking risky moves to have a chance at first. By contrast, O'Hair has, in the past, made risky plays to have a chance at first, sometimes at the risk of protecting second. Expect great shots out of both of them, but don't bet against Tiger.

Intresting final day in store.

My heart says O'Hair (again), shades of Jacobsen winning twice on the Florida swing but my mind says Tiger.

Be good if it was a Singh vs Tiger shoot-out.

Maybe this is realisitcally Singh's final year to really make a mark being 44 etc and I have a feeling he will feature in 1 or 2 majors.

R7 425........

O'hair was going head to head with Phil last year at the TPC and blew on the 17th on sunday

from pgatour.com...

"• Third-round leader Sean O'Hair scored a 7 on the par-3 17th hole Sunday. It's the first time a 54-hole leader has scored over-par on the 17th hole in the final round at Sawgrass. "

So last week doesnt mean squat. If he can hold off Tiger and everyone else, then he will prove that he can handle the pressure. He hasnt really been in the mix when the big players show up since last season.

I rooting for him to make a move. I dont like watching Tiger play safe golf on a sunday when everyone folds. I want to see Tiger work for it.

That's why I guess I'm happy Vijay is up there, he CAN go head to head with Tiger.

This tournament is already over. Tiger never loses while leading after the thrid round. The wind is blowing. I think Tiger will finish a couple under today and i think everyone will shoot over par. Its just too tough for those guys at 6 to say im going to make a move with the wind blowing that much. Tiger knows what he has to do and will execute it because his course management is in another planet. Its going to be real tough to shoot under par today --i am going to say less than 5 people will have under par rounds

    • Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.
    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!

    • Day 539, April 23, 2024 Mirror work once again. When I get back to swings, I'll just do it A. LOT.
    • A bit of background. The Southern California Golf Association (SCGA) runs an annual event known as "Team Play." It is a wildly popular match play competition where Men's Clubs across the region put together teams of 20+ golfers together to compete against other clubs in a 16 vs. 16 match. In any given year, approximately 80-100 clubs will participate. Each club is grouped into "pods" of 4, and will play 6 total matches - one home and one away match against the other 3 clubs. The winning club from each pod advances to the Team Play Playoffs - a single elimination format - until a winner is crowned.  Antelope Valley Country Club just advanced to the championship match for the 3rd consecutive year. They won the championship in both 2022 and 2023.  Based on my review of the match history from the past 3 years (linked below), they have won 21 consecutive team matches. Keep in mind, these are handicapped matches, so this is not just a case where a group of sticks bands together to dominate the poor amateurs other SoCal clubs. Even if these guys are grinders who never quit, play their best under pressure and routinely putt the lights out, the law of averages still say that a streak of that nature is mathematically impossible.  Is there any plausible explanation beyond institutionalized sandbagging throughout the club?
