The “$22 game”, which is $1 per hole for skins plus $1 per par 3 for “greenies” (closest to the pin, but must make par or better to count) is pretty popular with my group. Other times it’s $5 Nassau with automatic 2 down presses. Sometimes we have 4 or 5 bets going at once (eg 3 or 4 presses) and it makes the last 2-3 holes of a nine really interesting!

My buddies and I will usually have a little skins game going. You have to have something on the game, right?

Some time ago we were playing a course that featured a driveable par 4 of about 280 yards. I hit my drive to the fringe, and my buddies missed the green by a wider margin. As they were sizing up their pitch shots, one called out, "If you make that Eagle, I'll give you ten bucks!" The other chimed in the same way. I knew what they were trying to do, but they did it all wrong! They should have bet me ten bucks I wouldn't make the Eagle! With no money at stake, i knocked the chip into the hole.

At the end of the round, they tried to hand me the money, but I didn't want it. I asked them to just buy me a beer or two! They insisted, so I took their money, and I bought the beer! Free beer seems to taste better than "regular" beer!

I really got screwed one time playing Wolf. Big gang of 3 putts and I had the last one! Never again!

Is “Wolf Hammer” different from “Wolf”? In any case, I watched a video and concluded that anything brought to an extreme can sound really geeky 😂

I’ve started playing a buck a stroke and that’s pretty much my fun limit...anything more and I’d have to be sand bagging 😁

I, too, had to look that one up. Definitely a game for rich, bored country club guys because you have to have money to play it, and enough free time to make up and understand all those rules. Watched the video of those guys playing it, lots of grown men with their hats on backwards.

You can play it for a nickel a dot. You don't have to be rich to play it, or Vegas, or else.

Very true, but still awfully complicated, at least for me and the guys I play with. We play wolf on occasion, but for the most we stay pretty traditional. FWIW I am normally the youngest guy in the group.

Oh, I hate complicated bets and stuff, too. I rarely bet, even the simple stuff. I was just pointing out it's only for "rich" guys if you make the bets too high. Otherwise it can work fine at any level.

    • It's been a little more than a year since I can last remember hitting golf balls and today I just got my second cortisone injection in 11 months. I thought maybe shortly after the first injection I was going to be able to start playing again with therapy but the pain while doing my backswing past halfway just didn't subside like just lifting my hands up in the air did. So today the Orthopedic surgeon put more in the backside of the shoulder than before to address the tendon more. I'm going to try therapy for another 3 months and if I  can't swing the club without pain then I think surgery is going to be my next option.
    • I was just down visiting family in southern California and we played a couple rounds of golf. I hit my ball into the deep rough near some tree's and my cousin's husband offered me his Sim 2 Rescue Hybrid to try out. And I felt the same way, wow! I loved it, it also had a Pure DTX grip on it which I loved. As soon as I got back home, I ended up buying two used Calloway Rogue X hybrids, 3 and 5. So far I've only tested them out at the range, but I love them. They're much more forgiving than irons for me.
