I am your age. And while weight training can help a lot, you can also get similar benefits from resistance bands and body weight work. I do squats, but single leg squats. I use the bands to add resistance. I also use them for core work.

I just looked at my latest swing videos. I do a bit of a waggle and a maybe three count. With the driver, I lift the head and put it right behind where I want to make contact. With irons and woods I tap down then lift slightly then take back. I also try to lower myself to the ball with my legs instead of reaching or pushing down with my arms.
