Not quite on target, but I used to make turkey breakfast sausages for my son so he'd get some protein to go with his starchy breakfasts without all the fat of pork sausages or salt of any store-bought sausage product.  Haven't done it in a while, but they were really good.  Obviously not going to compete with a pork sausage for juiciness, but a good stand-in, as long as you use ground turkey thigh and not breast.  The recipe I use is here, in case anyone wants to give it a shot (I recommend using less black pepper as they suggest you may prefer, not because I don't like spice, but just because I don't like heavy black pepper in the spice mix.  I'd keep the white pepper and maybe add more cayenne if you like proper spice).

They also freeze really well.  I'd stack them with tabs of wax paper partially separating them, then wrap in plastic wrap in stacks of 4 or 5.  That way I could make a couple weeks' worth and use them one-by-one.  After this, I may have to get back into making them again...

The club sandwich at my Club.  It is redonkulous how good this sandwich is.  I had 3 last week, and the only reason I did not have 4 was I was late for a tee time.

EDIT: and in 10 days I will be addicted to the egg salad and pimento cheese sandwiches at Augusta National

  • 1 month later...

I've relapsed on my Cafe Sua Da (Vietnamese ice coffee) addiction. Actually I didn't have any yesterday. But I've been going for two cups a day pretty steadily over the last week... Got one brewing right now.

Currently I am addicted to HBO!  I have been trying to catch up on Deadwood (I think I have tried to watch episode 3 and falling asleep every time) and a new show called Game of Thrones.  I have watched HBO series before but I would have to borrow / rent / buy the series...now I can watch them as they are on TV.  I don't watch a lot of TV but when I do, I like it to be good.

Deadwood is one of my favorite shows ever, if not my favorite. I got the DVD set a few years back and have gone through it a few times. I actually just started the set again last week. Just about to finish the first season.

Have fun with it.  I picked it up some time in season 4, I think, and then caught up on all of them over that summer, mostly watching a season over a weekend.  Then, toward the end of the summer, I introduced a friend to it and watched season 1 a second time through.  In early Fall, they had a big to-do in Hollywood when the show went into syndication and they had a free 24 hour screening in one of the theaters where they showed season 1 as a marathon, so my wife and I went to that.  It was pretty crazy, and I don't think I'll need to watch season 1 again any time soon...

It was also crazy, just after watching season 1 for the second time, I was picking my wife up at LAX and as I waited for her by the baggage carousel, when a familiar-looking face caught the corner of my eye.  I turned to see Jack Bauer walking toward me---not what you want to see when you're at the airport!  Anyway, Kiefer Sutherland had apparently been on her flight from Montreal.  Fun coincidence.

My only addiction is golf.  In fact, I purchased an Addict membership on oobgolf.com to justify it.  I guess I can't forget coffee, good beer, and Fat Princess on the PS3.  Sometime in the distant future I'll acquire a Diablo III addiction.  But until then, I'm set....

A lot of people are addicted to Tim Horton's (I boycotted them years ago) or maybe they're addicted to the drive-through exhaust fumes?!?

    • I did not realize that, I was thinking a more traditional golf club.
    • Thanks for the feedback. @StuM, we are a "club without real estate" so no facilities or pro. We have a membership of around 185 players and we only play together as a group at our tournaments, which are held at public access courses. A group of us setup the tournaments, collect the money and dole out the prizes.
    • In general, granting free relief anywhere on the course isn't recommended.  Similarly, when marking GUR, the VSGA and MAPGA generally don't mark areas that are well away from the intended playing lines, no matter how poor the conditions.  If you hit it far enough offline, you don't necessarily deserve free relief.  And you don't have to damage clubs, take unplayable relief, take the stroke, and drop the ball in a better spot.
    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
