Does anyone care about BDC enough right now to pay for one of these things? Apparently someone cares. This "card" is going for over 5K

This NFT is limited to just one edition. This NFT commemorates Bryson’s raw power and the distance that comes along with it. With his newfound distance, Bryson can attempt shots that most cannot. In addition to winning...

Seems like a stupid way to spend money.

Don't you want to get an early jump on the BDC IPO? Ha.

Maybe it is the autographed US Open Flag and chance to meet him in person that is the real value?

Yet another proof that some people has too much money. With the entire world as market place, a Prince in Dubai can purchase one for a million USD without it even being noticeable on the bank account. Power to anyone making money off this. I get the hype as a new concept, but not sure about the longevity. At least for trading cards. There are probably better pieces of media one can buy like this and which will have a market in the future. But I’m probably wrong. Never was good at predicting the future.

Buying the BDC thing is more a financial support to him. Now anyone with some kind of public image will want to jump on the train and make some money on a photo ran through some filters and with some added text. Heck, I’d probably do it myself.

I haven’t studied the concept of NFT or how this can be applied to other kind of media, but if it can help protect digital IPs better of artists that actually create something I’d want to own, it might be a good idea.

Physical paintings are sold for millions, so why not digital ones too.

What I do not understand is why anyone would pay thousands+ for a digital trading card.

Because what something is worth is based on the value people place upon it, rather than the value the object itself inherently has. What is a Mickey Mantle rookie card but a printed piece of cardboard?

I bet someone is taking a risk and hoping this “card” will increase in value, so it can kind of be looked at as an investment. It’s not my cup of tea, but I don’t think it’s a stupid way to spend money.

  • iacas changed the title to Bryson DeChambeau Releases NFT, then Tiger

I've never been into autographs, so this doesn't interest me, but I can see some people thinking it's cool and unique.  Seems smart of Tiger and Bryson to try it.

In a world where ¨serious¨ people laud John Cage for writing a piece of music that consists of nothing but silence, and Salvatore Garau can create and sell an invisible sculpture, is this stuff really that strange?

But I confess, I have pirated copies of both of these.  I listen to the John Cage work while looking at the Garau sculpture all the time, right here in my living room.  Or wherever I am.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

    • I am a huge numbers guy and if a number can be applied to something, I want to know what it is.  Even in golf, I will pace off short chips as I have a 10 yard, 20 yard, and 30 yard shot whereas I take the club back a certain distance for each.  I have heard the comparison to basketball players that they do not know their exact distance to the basket, they just use their eye sight and adjust which I know a lot of golfers do as well when within a certain distance to the pin.  My question is, what is that distance for you?  I was at the range today and was hitting wayward  balls to a flag that I had no idea what it's exact distance was, I estimate that I was at times as close as 40 yards and as far away as 70 yards.  I was amazed at how accurate I was having not known the distance to the flag.  Temps me to not use my range finder within say 70 yards and go by look and feel.  What say you?
    • Well, it was yesterday but I shot an 88 at Lake Park GC in Lewisville, TX.
    • PXG Orlando, other locations I'm sure its the same, offers a full bag fitting for 25 bucks which is applied to purchase if you are a veteran or active duty, etc. Unfortunately I like my Titleist's.
    • Latest rumor is Clarkson, May and Hammond will have a new team on LIV.
    • That's not just sandbagging, that's cheating. Under Rule 3.3 for posting most likely scores, for example if there was a 2 foot putt for par, one can only take one extra stroke from what they lie, meaning par in that instance, not bogey. I didn't check the other instances but you can.
