2, 4, 6. Unless I can sell the golf clubs for extra income—then 2, 4, 5. I didn’t go with 1 because I’ve been, and it’s great, but I don’t like crowds. Besides, if you’ve been once, you’ve experienced it. Better to have a recliner, fridge, and A/C.

5,4,1.

I'd try every club every year and sell them w/o remorse.

I'd like to play the course once to say I did but I'd like to go each year to see the festivities and the pros play

Easy 1, 4 and 5.

My stupid heart condition means I don't get to drink alcohol. Boo hoo.

I think playing with John Daly would be a stitch, playing with Tiger would also be great, but I'd rather get to play Augusta.

Free clubs for life would rock. I'd try out so many clubs. ... I love shiny things.

Free clubs for life, can you imagine that? Being able to play the latest every single year for the rest of your life! You're talking some very serious cash here. Also, annual tickets to the Masters it's probably also some very serious cash, let alone the good benefit it gives you. And also a round at Augusta would top it off.

2, 4 & 5. 2 and 4 would be once in a lifetime events and 5 lets me open up a lucrative online golf club business.

1, 2, 4.  I am old and financially set.. Gathering experiences is more important than acquiring "stuff".  It would be fun giving the Masters tickets to friends and relatives (assuming ANGC doesn't go overboard enforcing their policy of only the owner/patron using the tickets).

Nice topic @nevets88.  👍

Where would the rounds with Tiger or Daly be?  Course of my choice?  Theirs?  What are they like in pro-ams, because I assume that's what they'd be like in the round, too.  Would they be just like someone I'm randomly paired with, maybe saw a few words and look for a lost ball, but otherwise stay out, or are we sharing a cart and chatting?

For 3 and 5, who is paying?  Is this just "some foundation reimburses all your club expenses" or is there some monkey paw nonsense going on?

For item one, am I on the hook annually to pay for the tickets, too?  I don't even know what they cost, but I could probably fit that into my annual budget.  I often would have trouble getting time off of work to go to Augusta every year, although now that teaching online is more acceptable, maybe I could swing it and just every year for a few days in April, my classes are taught remotely from my hotel before I go to the course.

I rarely drink during a round these days, haven't in almost a decade, and even then, most of the courses I play don't have a cart that goes around to sell beer anyway.  So not that one.

This has been a message from your friendly neighborhood Shindig, ruining everyone's fun on these questions since 2007.

1 and 5 are non-starters for me.  I would love to watch the Masters in person at least once before I die, but it's not such a bucket list item that I would want to tie up a weeks worth of my discretionary time every single year. As for 5, I'm a creature of habit when it comes to my clubs. Once I find something that works, I won't change until it breaks or (in the case of my last set of clubs) gets stolen.

A round of golf with Tiger is a no-brainer. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind not choosing that. And I would love to get in 18 with John Daly, so that gets second billing for me.

As to my third choice, it would be a really tough call. A round at Augusta is a once in a lifetime opportunity. But unlimited beer from the cart girl? I would literally be the most popular guy in every single foursome that I was part of.  It's a close call, but unlimited beer gets my last vote.

Now... upon review of the polling answers, I see that I am the only one that chose this option. Does that mean I have a problem????

Easy!
  • Free Lifetime Beer from Cart Girl
  • 1 Round at Augusta
  • Free Golf Clubs for Life
I like beer,
I like to play golf,
I need clubs (although I just bough new Pings).
I really have no desire to watch golf in person with the crowds. I also have no need to play with Tiger/Daly.
Why do I need pros watch me shank one in the woods or 3 putt?

2, 4, and 5… because you made me pick three. If I stay in the PGA I have lifetime tickets to the Masters, effectively. 🙂 Now, if I can SELL the lifetime tickets, replace the free golf clubs with that option, because that would PAY for free golf clubs (and then some) for life. 😄

And I don't drink beer.

Sorry, I know each of the words individually, but when used in a sentence in that order I cannot comprehend!

1 round with Tigs when he's feeling better 🙂

It doesn't say how many clubs or beers, free means free unlimited IMO...

So, I would think I could get and sell as many clubs as I want and get free beer for all my friends !!!

I have lots of friends who drink beer and play golf...

Even the pros need laughter and merriment in their lives...

Give me the stuff I can make money on.

The tickets, the clubs and the beer.

I picked a round at Augusta National (although an old set of my Titleist irons once played at Augusta, though I wasn't the one swinging them) and Free Golf Clubs for Life.  I think I'd do 2 years of the free clubs before playing Augusta National.

And I'm curious, does the cart girl with the free beer deliver to the house?

    • Day 506 - May 17, 2021 Hit balls (including one ball into the parking lot) from the back of the range at Whispering Woods today. Didn't quite have the same feel as the other day, but… it's close.
    • So I was helping my daughter out at the back of the range today. I had chipped literally two 8-irons, then wanted her to take a break, so I said “watch this in case I duck hook it onto the practice green” (short game). I’m on the back of the range, hitting toward the mats that are 300 yards away. I hit it, a high seed, and… it hits by the mats (between two people, about six mats apart) and bounces into the parking lot. It’s a gravel parking lot, the ball didn’t go very far. But, ooooookay. So, that’s enough of that. My daughter was both in awe and frightened that I may have dented someone’s Honda. A student takes his Mevo out on the course to measure shots hit out there, and he said he measured my first tee shot a few days ago at 175 ball speed and 117.x (don’t remember the decimal value) clubhead speed. He bought a set of SuperSpeed sticks off eBay later that day. Wheeeeee.
    • I played as a 2 man in a pretty big local tournament that gets top flight guys. The course was set up long and tough, but weather was good. 1st day =X 2nd day =79 I hit the ball really well both days and would’ve shot in the 70s both days if I didn’t take an X on a hole. I didn’t know where to hit the tee shot, so my captain gave me a starting line hit the ball 15 yards right of the start line- quality drive, captain says that’s not bad, you can get home from there ball was lost on an overgrown hillside and the team was in good shape, so I sat in the cart instead of holding up play i had 50 yards of open fairway to the left thanks captain  Putting was bad but, even with a 5 putt (4 of them were within 3.5 feet and I tried on them all) - I scored pretty well and made a handful of birdies on a tough setup.
    • My biggest drop in handicap over two years was going from a 9.9 to a 3.9. How? I stayed out of the shit.... I called the zoo... I finally cured my hook (It came back again, then I was able to cure it again like literally today.)    @iacas will be the first one to tell you or you can tell for yourself, in My Swing Thread... my swing looks like an unfolding lawn chair. (I’ve taken literally four lessons in my 24 years playing golf). I can understand complex, like the number A# that Erik has on this site. I’m trying to learn to play golf with mostly a three-quarter swing. It is however a process. In the meantime, I aim away from the shit (darker zones), try to get on or around the green, and don’t do anything stupid when I do get out of position... basically “miss” straight...
    • Yep. Jack was never so lucky to be gifted a major. Those club pros gave him their best every tournament in the early years!
