Iacas ,

Apparently you know much more than I do about this and intelligent people can make up their own mind.
I am not in to these A6- A7 positions . They are fine for super slo mo cameras, but the human brain does not work In real time and a player will not know exactly where his hands are in the DS . He can only preprogram / prepare a  video in the brain and send a message to his dominant hands to carry out his plan before ever taking the  shaft back BC he will have no time to make adjustments during the DS .

Iacas,

I thought I answered that adequately in the first words of my previous post ! I base my answer on what I perceive are facts and logic and I don’t care whether others believe it or not . I understand that it would be impossible since it takes 1/10 seconds for messages to travel between the human brain and it’s dominant hands and in that very short period of time it would not be possible to alter or change . No human could possibly know where their hands are in 2/10 seconds of the DS and suddenly decide it is time to square the face with their hands . Human just don’t work that way
If others think a human could then fine with me . No one has to believe me . I am used to that ! Theory and opinion is  much more intriguing.

By your “logic” it seems as though baseball players who are able to check their swing after initiating it are superhuman as it would be impossible to do within 0.2 secs. This article states that they have 0.10 sec to make their decision to swing (to interpret where the pitch is headed and in what speed it’s traveling) and then 0.3 secs to react. Admittedly, their 0.3 sec reaction time is more than the 0.2 secs you claim is not humanly possible. But for the players who decide to swing, then process the information, but are able to stop their hands while mid-swing (less than 0.3 secs), are they superhuman? They are obviously aware of where their hands are and able to make adjustments in less than .3secs, so to say it’s impossible for any human to do that in 0.2 secs seems again to be false and again you’re speaking in absolutes.

I think you need to quit while you’re ship is sinking.

Are you serious!?!!! How are you claiming to understand, “to know what you’re talking about” when it comes to the golf swing when you don’t even understand the basic swing positions!!

go find some poor suck to preach your gibberish to, it has no place on this forum.

Lane,

Since you are only capable of responding to one thought per reply I will keep this short.

Can you please start tagging people and quote them when you respond to them?

I truly don't understand what is so difficult about that. I honestly believe you are choosing not to do so on purpose.

Yeah, no.

I’m giving you a 4/10 on the Golf Swing Guru Crackpot Scale. You lost points for:

  • No visual aids. Like, at all.
  • No citing a YouTube video claiming this swing shows off what you are talking about.
  • No mystical looking 1990-style website.
  • No avatar of some part of the body or a golf swing.

You gained points for:

  • Suggesting that you alone know the truth or facts at play here.
  • Misusing big words you clearly don’t understand.
  • Citing Ben Hogan.

Try harder next time. You can do it!

Hmm, this is an interesting scale, the GSGC. I am now so interested in your rating of such gems as Jeff Mann or the closed shoulder swing guy. If anyone can be a 10 on such a scale it must be Jeff Mann.

This is intellectually dishonest.

You cited A6 yourself when you talked about Tiger when his shaft was parallel to the ground on the downswing, and you've shifted goalposts multiple times now.

I gave a rating for one of the last guys we had, too… I'm having trouble remembering which one that was, though.

Let's get something valuable from this topic besides exposing two trolls and find that other post, and use that to start to build the GSGC Scale, and the rubric, and criteria.

You need to look up the word ‘proprioception.’

Some additional point gathering metrics are: (in no particular order)

1. Creation of new accounts to say you are a student of said crazy theory as a "testimonial"

2. After being banned returning as a new account only slip back into your old ways and get outed.

3. (Recently added) Blur portions of your swing pictures to hide the fact that you have already posted them in the past

4. Be a poor speller (why are they so often poor spellers?)

5. Garage videos

6. Complain that aren't being treated by the forum fairly

7. Move around forums thinking the other one will be more accepting of theory (to be fair this used to be easier when so many forums were popping up)

8. Using bad camera angles to further your theory

9. Say specialists (neuroscientists, biochemists, etc) agree with you.

10. Start out extremely friendly, then transition to frustrated/angry, then irate, then downright nasty.

He can’t. @Lane Holt is the classic type that cults salivate for. He doesn’t have a lot of analytical thinking skills yet has enough to become enamored when someone strikes his fancy with new words or concepts.

Problems arise when they try to regurgitate what they think they’ve learned and make a cluster f*** out of it. Anyone remotely interested in golf who thinks Tiger is 6’10” is obviously scrambled. And the improper use of the phrase ‘human genetics’ furthers this.

He can’t debate any of this because he doesn’t even understand it himself. Every time someone poses a question he’s thinking, ‘damn it...I wish that neurologist I learned this from was here to answer this...’

He’s probably a good kid, just having some fun experimenting with his new words and just got in too deep with those who do possess analytical thinking skills and do understand biomechanics far superior to him.

Vinsk,

I am well aware of proprioception . The human brain will always know where it ‘s extremities are located . You can’t hide your dominant thumb from your brain , but in a task that only takes 2/10 seconds by the time the brain receives the message the hand will already be past that location.
IMO- although many great players have have written books and tried valiantly to teach us what they felt during their swing had  already happened before the brain received the message . That might explain why so many did exactly the opposite of what they thought they did .

I apologize if this offends anyone .

We all know “feel ain’t real” - but what you are saying sounds like it’s contradicts itself. On one hand, you say the brain knows where it’s parts are, and then you immediate say people frequently misinterpret what they’re doing.
You’ve not provided us any information (other than misinformation about Tiger’s height) for a guy who “knows what he’s talking about”

The only offensive thing here is your inability or unwillingness to actually discuss things. You instead prefer to just prattle on, without actual discourse.

Ok, so let's say OP's right elbow is not the problem because his human brain is too busy being hogged by his thumb. What's the problem then? And what should he/she do with his dominant thumb to make the ball fly high and straight.

As an aside, would you kindly recommend thumb strengthening and bulking exercises? Wonder what riches might I stumble upon if I can make my thumb actually look like how my brain sees it.

    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
    • I agree with @klineka & @DaveP043 above.  When a new member first joins the club they cold be told that they are not eligible for tournaments until they have an established HCP.  As you said, it only takes a few rounds.  If they do not to post HCP that was their choice and choices have consequences.  If playing in the tournament is important to them then they should step up and establish an HCP.  Maybe they miss the 1st tournament, is that a real big deal?  And if it is a "Big Deal" to them then they had the opportunity to establish the HCP. As for not knowing how to report for HCP I assume your club has a pro and they should be able to assist in getting the scores reported and I suspect out of state courses may also have staff that can assist if asked.
