One sign of normalcy returning is the USO qualifying is back. Locals start soon, in about 10 days, going until May. I see 3 qualifiers near me. If you're not familiar, these are free and open to the public usually. Not sure how covid will affect attendance requirements. Anyone know if they are still open to the public to view this year?

Final qualifying dates May 24, June 7.

A few years back Golf Channel actually televised a bunch of the sectional qualifiers (a best as they could) and I thought it was pretty cool.  Wish they'd do that again.

At one of the qualifiers, I recall overhearing one of the announcers talking to a cameraman or some other and he was like, if you suck at math and science, you should be a reporter, it's a great gig.

I went to the Open the last time it was at Torrey Pines.  It's still the only major I've been to.  Fun time.  I can't wait to watch this one.

That's funny. Geoff, c'mon man…

In his defense having to hear "smash that like button" on repeat could probably drive anyone crazy after less than an hour.

I went to the practice rounds for the 2008 US Open.  Saw all the big names.  A highlight of my golf watching career, along with watch Jack win his final USGA total at Cherry Hills in the Senior US Open in 1993.  I was at a conference at a hotel where a lot of the players stayed including Jack.  Coincidentally, the Denver Broncos were holding cheerleader tryouts at the same hotel.  Good times.

Wow.  What a great story.  Anyone know when and where his sectional qualifying will be?

I'm guessing the Bears Club in Jupiter FL.

If this kid wins, will this be the youngest victor at the Open since Ouimet?

Imagine if the Open goes to a playoff with Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, and that kid... and the kid wins.

Okay, one shot at a time, first the kid has to get through the next qualifying stage.

But seriously, that's so cool that he was able to do what he already has done!

    • The Florida sun is no joke, especially in the summer.  With that said, the trunk is a better option than in the cabin if you have to leave your bag in your car.  I avoid leaving anything valuable in my car for fear of theft and I consider my clubs valuable.  My truck doesn't have a trunk, but even then its just something I don't even chance.  The other heat sensitive item has got to be shoes. You will be on the golf course one day and the bottoms will just fall right off.
    • @Vinsk has pretty clearly summarized the "truth" based on current scientific understanding.  We, meaning somewhere between most and all of us, need to be vaccinated out of concern for society, for every single person we may come into contact with.  To choose not to be vaccinated is to choose to increase the risk of infection for everyone you interact with.  Do you not accept that as reality, or is there some other reason that you would choose not to get vaccinated?
    • Please keep it civil.
    • You know, I don't appreciate being called ignorant, uneducated and a moron just because I have a different opinion than you.  That is what is wrong with people, just because a person has a different opinion doesn't necessarily make them ignorant or stupid or a moron.  I was raised differently.  I was raised to respect a persons opinion and just because it differs than yours, doesn't mean the person is a moron or ignorant.  It means they have a different opinion, and they have a right to that.  Wouldn't discussions be boring if everyone agreed with everyone in the discussion?  During those productive discussions, who says one person is right and one person is wrong? Also, I don't believe in most conspiracy theory's.   You have your opinion, and I have mine.  Just because I don't agree with you  doesn't mean I'm ignorant.  And you are not ignorant either.  Show some respect, man.
    • I think we like Rory and don’t like to see him struggle at times. But golf is hard and he also has been trying a few changes. First, last fall was adding distance which he admits caused problems. Second, he added a high fade to his long irons. Those take time to dial in. Lastly, there are a lot of great golfers out there.
