It looks like I may be going to the Broadmoor in June. Anyone have experiences there? Might be staying almost a week and am playing at least once. Should I play both courses there or is anything else nearby that's worth the trip? What else is there to do at the resort?

I've never stayed or played at the Broadmoor, but there's a ton to do in the Colorado Springs area, especially if you enjoy the mountains or hiking. Some things off the top of my head to do:

  • Visit the Air Force Academy (it may be closed because of COVID, so you'd have to check that). The chapel is worth the trip. There's a couple of other interesting things, and it's a beautiful campus. Just make sure you check the COVID status before you go.
  • Go to the top of Pikes Peak. You can drive up there, or there's a train you can take to the top. The views are incredible. Just be prepared for any type of weather, including lightning and snow.
  • Garden of the Gods. You can drive around or go hiking there. The scenery is spectacular.

There are lots of other things to do in the area, too. Those 3 things are the highlights, in my opinion. If you want to hike at all, there's no shortage of trails to choose from. Denver is also about an hour and a half drive north, if you want to do that.

Jeep tours and white water rafting are fun things.
Airforce Academy has a good course if you are military.

Casinos in historic mining areas are fun to visit, Gamble, Dine or just browse the towns.
Micro Breweries are very good for dining and indulging a few brews.
There's several good golf courses around the Springs also.

Did you end up going?  I was there for three days this past week and played east on Tuesday.  I was unimpressed for the money.  Cool to play a course that’s hosted big tourneys, but I thought the layout was kind of boring.  Beautiful location though. The day I played they had just dumped sand on the greens so they were slow and the members I played with said they just had a member-member tourney that weekend and hadn’t moved the cups in four days.

the hotel was fun.   My wife and I did the zip lines nearby one day.  Cool area.

Yes we went and I played the day after you. Played the east course first and the west the next day. I liked both of them but have played better corses for far less $. They were in good shape and the views are phenomenal. I think that’s what you’re paying for.

    • Day 312 - Better finishing position, fuller backswing, PRGR to see how swing speed was.
    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
