I connected my GG Live after today's round to my computer, which had been good for uploading the past two months, and after some "it looked like it was uploading," it says there is no round there.  😞  Back this again.

(And I thought I putted well today, too, I'd like to know if I'm right)

Has anyone successfully got a round off of a GG Live system via computer in the past few days?  I'm wondering if Wednesday's failure was related to some sites disappearing briefly from the internet (although I was able to access the GG site).   Right now, mine is just recharging so I can use it on Sunday.  Would be nice to get the stats for today.

Same for me on past 3 rounds on my Classic. They said to email them log files but there was no data in the files.

I am awaiting @DaveP043review on GG Pro as that is my next option.

It looks like the phone upload method with live isn't working either. I uploaded a bunch of them yesterday, and it looked like everything was successful. But I'm on the site and app now and I'm not seeing the rounds anywhere. There are no rounds on the device according to the app. I plugged it into the computer as well. No rounds showing up; nothing to upload.

Probably going to pull off the sensors and quit using GG now. It's not useful enough to me to want to deal with these annoyances all the time. Too bad, because it's fun to see everything afterwards.

Ugh, that's disappointing.  A few months ago (I think I wrote about this in the previous thread, I can try to find that if someone wants) I tried to get my device to connect to my phone via Bluetooth and it was a hassle and did not connect.  I eventually gave up.  But if I knew it would work, I'd fight it a bit more.

After 4 years or so using Game Golf, I played my first few rounds without it this week (in Wisconsin).

If they could figure out a way to iron out the issues they’re having with software, and create a unit (preferably smaller) that doesn’t require the phone for tagging (and that truly WORKS that way), I might go back.

I definitely miss being able to review my rounds and the distances I hit.

At the same time, I enjoyed playing a different way, and I like the app I use for hole-by-hole scoring (The Grint). I’ve also purchased a rangefinder, so I can play without GPS. I might invest in a Mevo or other launch monitor instead to understand my distances and just leave Game Golf behind.

Well, I tried anyway and made some progress.  I was able to connect the app to my phone, so that's a step in the right direction.

It said there was a round on there, and allowed me to retrieve it.  It looked like it was retrieving two rounds (which would match the number of yet-uploaded-but-recorded ones).  But they're not on the GG site or in the app.  The device (via phone) says no rounds on it.  But I was able to, in settings > support "upload log files."  I'm not sure what that is, but there were two of them.

I'll check back for not-signed rounds when/if I see something different.

A quick thought:  do I need to connect it to my phone before a round now to get it to save something?  It has a "play golf" option but I assumed that was for manual tagging.

@Shindig you probably lost your rounds.

When it works that’s what you do, yes.

As for what the stuff does there are manuals and stuff. You can use a LIVE device live, editing as you go, or record the round and upload on your phone later (when that works).

Okay.  I'll give this a try during tomorrow's round.  I don't remember ever connecting it to my phone to start it up before.  I'm confused about why the rounds were able to be stored in the device but how I started the round affected their upload, but I don't expect anyone here to tell me why their software does what it does.

The way I had (I think since I first bought it) used it in the past was to power it on when I walked to the first tee, tag my shots, and connect to the computer after the round to upload, edit, and sign.  For the first four years or so I used it, I think this was working fine.  If there's been a change in what works, an alert from them would have been nice.

and now for something stranger:  when the device/phone are paired and I check in the app, there is a listing of one round on the device.  That's exciting, maybe my round data still lives somewhere...

You can read my impressions so far here:

If I had to make a recommendation right now, I'd say don't do it.  However, I've been in contact with the GG people, and they're trying to improve the performance.  I'd love for it to work, and I'm more than willing to do my part, all we can do is wait to see how it turns out.

You can use it like Classic and upload via your phone after, but the “Live” part means you can use it live while you play on your phone.

That’s not what I’ve said. If the rounds upload successfully they’re removed from the device. But they aren’t always  actually uploaded. Then again, I thought rounds were lost before and they appeared.

That’s just “Classic” and you were notified years ago (like four or five) that using newer OSes and the Transfer app was being discontinued.

Had you told them about your trip to SV and they just didn’t get it going in time for that, or were they unaware? It’d have been nice to use it there.

Thanks for clearing that up -- it's very reassuring.  I guess I've always used it like a Classic.  Which I'm fine with:  tag during the round, upload later, fix mis-tags etc, then get stats are the only features I've wanted.  I also had the "I thought that round vanished" thing happen a few months ago, and a few popped up, which was nice.  Maybe that will happen with these.

I had some communications, they seemed to be focused on other issues.  And given the issues I've had, knowing that I really couldn't edit the rounds easily, I decided not to use it.  I'll get back to it tomorrow, and hope somehow it works better.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been using the phone app recently. I tried to use it at Mammoth Dunes but it wasn’t mapped, then the next day at Sand Valley and it had issues. I didn’t use it for the rest of the trip and honestly it was so much more enjoyable to play golf without worrying about if my tracking app was working properly.

As much as I love to go back and see how far I hit shots and revisit my rounds, I’m probably done with it.

The phone app is not ideal.

If the belt unit (Live mostly) works, I'll stick with it. If it doesn't… they've got issues.

    • Day 12: Same as last couple days, but focus was on recentering aspect of flow. When I recenter earlier I make decent contact most swings but if I recenter late or not at all it’s a roll of the dice.
    • A couple of things.  Some of the clubs in your bag should be dropped immediately.  A 2-iron for example with what obviously seems to be a lower swing speed or possibly not great swing yet is a definite no-no.  To be hitting that 120-140 yards, which I assume includes run, is a sign that you are not getting the ball airborne at the correct angle to maximise distance.  The reason your 3 and 5 hybrid are going the same distance is that your launch angle is better with the 5.  Loft is your friend. Ideally I would suggest going to a golf or sporting store where you can hit golf balls on a simulator without being disturbed to understand your club carry distances and hopefully swing speed.  With that information we can definitely guide you better.
    • Let us be clear, unless you have proof of cheating, you just sound like a case of sour grapes.  In our club we have a guy who won club titles for many years.  Yes, he was a low single digit handicapper, but there have been quite a few others who played at his level.  Yet his mental strength and experience helped him win in many years when he shouldn't have.  Did he sandbag.  DEFINITELY NOT.  Did he just minimize his mistakes and pull out shots as and when needed.  Definitely.
    • Day 111 - Worked on my grip and higher hands in the backswing. Full swings with the PRGR.
    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
