What a major!  This is easily one of the three best major championship weekends of 2021 so far.

Prediction:  this will be the first Open at Torrey that does not end in a 19 hole playoff between Woods and Mediate.

But it's going to be fun to watch anyway.

I am really looking forward to this Open. The rough is super thick and penal right now, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the pros manage it. My hunch is that those who can do the best job of blending distance and accuracy off the tee will prevail. This might have the makings of another DeChambeau victory, perhaps?

Dang, but I'd like to see Phil win this one, too!

Does anyone know if fans are allowed for Wednesday practice round? Were there tickets sold for this?

I don't see any practice tickets available on Stubhub though.

Though golf is far from whatever its new normal is going to look like, the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in June is going to feel like it's being played at Cam

I agree and want him to do also.  Phil is a long-shot but I put my $$ on him.  Understand, it was not a lot of cash and I know I could lose it all, rather quickly.

Phil winning would be so great for so many reasons.  Especially since I'm an old guy now I can enjoy the old guys winning more 😃

You put money that he’d make the cut? 😃

Phil isn't going to win but that isn't really what I said. I said - "Dang, but I'd like to see Phil win this one, too!" And, I would!

I'm gonna root for him anyway. I'll root for Hovland, too, though I don't think he's got the chops, yet, to win.

Ben Curtis won The Open. We don’t have a clue what will happen.😂

    • The problem with your argument is the fact that “Indian” is not a tribe. Rather, it’s an inaccurate and derogatory term because the folks historically designated with the moniker are not Indians. Conversely, teams named Seminoles, Braves, Blackhawks, Aztecs, Chiefs, etc. are not offensive or derogatory terms to most reasonable people, and therefore, tend to be acceptable names, unlike “Indians” or “red skins.”
    • I had 11 clubs in the bag for a long time and recently bought a twelfth club.  But realistically I would only use about 7 to 8 clubs on a regular basis. Driver, 2h (just purchased and not played yet), 4h, maybe 7 to PW, SW or LW when I needed a flop or bunker shot and the putter of course
    • Well......the intent (or what I interpret as the intent) of naming a team is to create a certain image, and for sports this often means an image which suggests bravery, a fighting spirit, strength, etc. In and of itself, I don't agree that an entire population of a certain tribe is demeaned because a sports team chose to name itself after the tribe's warriors.  How the team chooses to depict the warriors.....that can be demeaning, as was clearly the case with the Indians' imagery of their former team namesakes.  I still don't entirely agree that it is wrong or demeaning to name a sports team after some class of warriors. It's a game, a sport, it's marketing, etc etc. The native tribes living today often bear no resemblance whatsoever to their warrior past.  What matters most is what the involved people think, however, and so in the end what I think doesn't really matter, as I'm not a member of an indigenous tribe. If I owned the Cleveland baseball team, I would rename it if I really believed it was hurtful or demeaning to a defined class of people. A few people feeling offended wouldn't be enough for me; you can't please everyone.
    • This is a great video bound to help a lot of people out there. I came to a somewhat similar conclusion a while back but this one really is good IMO.    https://youtu.be/YcOdBCrHKH0
