The quality of the comment should match the quality of the shot should match the quality of the player hitting it.

I think I get what you're saying but that's also subjective based on an individual's perspective just like the shot itself.

I think the theory here is that if you're playing with better golfers maybe watch their shot patterns for the first 9 holes, then feel free to comment on their shots relative to how they personally might feel about a given shot.  Then again, there are some golfers who don't think it's a good shot unless they knock it stiff.  So maybe comment on their golf gear or hair.

I think it's more the friendly sentiment behind the comment then it is the actual comment.

How close does the average scratch golfer get to the pin from 86 yards? Maybe his expectations are off a bit.

Regardless, I agree with the don't be a bitch comment.

No.

From 86 yards, he'll get inside 40 feet pretty often.

The good player was not being a bitch there. He was well within his rights to be annoyed at that kind of comment.

Just as he would if he thinned the ball to 10 feet and the guy said "great shot!"

OMG, I was out with a client today, first time I ever golfed with him.  He is nice enough but I wanted to KILL HIM.

Strike 1: I am walking up to my putt, @ 6 footer for par, when he just takes his club and swats it back at me saying "That's good".  I tell him I like to putt out and place it back to it original spot then I miss the putt and get bogey.  He says "You should have just taken the gimmie".

Strike 2: I hit a bad iron shot and landed in tall weeds about 3 feet from the boundary fence, clearly in bounds.  I look at the lie, go to my bag to get a club and he kicks it out of the weeds into the rough and says, "You do not want to play that lie".  Lucky I looked at the ball so I could re-create the lie, and hit a beauty right onto the green.

Strike 3: I hit a drive into a penalty area and decide to re-tee it taking stroke & distance.  I shot a 6 on the par-4 taking S&D into account.  After the round I am adding up the scores and I notice he erased my 6 and changed it to a 4.  I commented on that and he said "You are welcome" and said that if I did not insist on hitting from such bad lies and take a mulligan now and then I would score better like him.

I so much wanted to say, "Sure, I could shoot under-par if I cheated like you" but since he is a client I just bit my tongue.

Hope your client isn't a member here.

    • Record your practice. Learning a new feel takes time and patience. I’ve had roughly the same looking swing for a couple years now. It’s been this year when I’ve slowed down more, been even more specific with the movement and checks, that I’ve seen results. A fun drill you could try for the grip and transition is to pre-hinge. Basically take normal stance and setup with the club, then while keeping posture and trying to keep your hands in about the same space, hinge the club up in front of you. Then swing the arms and body to the top of the swing and into hitting the ball. Let me know if you don’t understand that. I can do a video tomorrow, if needed.
    • Received these today (a dozen ProV1).  Tried them out on the Mevo+ on the E6 Connect app, about 30 shots.  The ball flight that is displaying seems the same compared to other balls.  This was in short indoor mode (9ft ball flight), imagine that could impact the numbers a little.  Also wonder if it might read any different on the FS app (looks like you can add the type of ball you’re using)?  I’ll have to try that out later this week. That all said, I’m no expert on the numbers or what they should look like (beyond my typical carry distances, which are being accurately reflected).  Maybe I’ll log the numbers one of these days and share.
    • Because of playing very little golf over the past 3 years I honestly hope to change things this year and devote more time on this game I love. I think I'm closer to a 7 when I get my ghin updated.
    • It… honestly doesn't feel like much of anything, because you can't really tell through socks. It feels like… a shoe. A little bit more material than the Knits, but… barely. Very comfortable. Stylish. I didn't walk through any dew or anything, but… I think the nylon fabric will be good for most damp conditions.
    • How does the wool liner feel? Thick like the Major insoles or standard like Originals and TKii? You mentioned the shoe is wider than the TKii.
