Masters "B Flight" Picks

Padraig Harrington - Padi has contended in A LOT of majors lately and is currently playing very well. He always seems to get himself in the thick of things, and if he can make some key putts, he could win this thing.

Stuart Appleby - Appleby contended last year at Augusta, and even after struggling on Sunday, he learned a lot about pressure. He is playing well so far in 2008, and he could put himself back in the hunt this year.

Retief Goosen - Regardless of how he is playing heading into The Masters, the Goose always seems to finish in the top five at Augusta. It just so happens he is playing pretty decent right now, so that's a definite bonus.

Also, don't sleep on last year's champ, Zach Johnson. He seems to be almost forgotten already, but he has what it takes to get into contention again.

1.) Paul Casey-Plays well, here. Has the game from tee to green to win. If his putter behaves, he wins the tournament.

Good choices; I'd love to see any of them. Casey would be a bit of a dark horse, in my book though.

1. KJ Choi (you gotta love that guy) 2. Justin Rose (most consistent record of anyone in the Majors last year. Got a bit of the collywobbles on 17 last year but it hasn't broken him. He contended at several big tournaments, lost a playoff at the BMW PGA and won the Volvo Masters. That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger) 3. Aaron Baddeley (you never know) Ernie Els just outside - so long as Tiger isn't in contention on day 4. And what's the chances of that happenin', eh?

No Duval, so Charles Coody has a lock on the lowest score for the first two rounds. Oh wait...he's not playing either.

B Flight: 1. Hunter Mahan- If he can get a good round either Thursday or Friday to show himself that he can play well at Augusta and hang with the big boys he'll keep it up and do really well. 2. Retief Goosen- He plays great at the Masters, and lately his game has been peaking at the right time. 3. Phil Mickelson- Just plain and simply plays too good there. He'll be in it right up to the end.

Adam Scott is crazy talented, but it will be awhile before I trust his putting on the Augusta National greens. There is a reason the youngster only has a couple top-10 finishes in majors.

I'd like to see him win a few in the next couple years, but I just can't see it happening.

I think JB Holmes will play well..Hes having all the success this year--FBR Open and Tavistock --he flew Tiger's 319 ball at the long drive...he should set up well at Augusta if it plays soft from rain.

Zach Johnson showed that being long isn't the be-all and end-all.

You need a great short game for Augusta and I don't think JB does, though I'm willing to be persuaded otherwise - by his actions, not words. I fear he will do well to make the weekend.
