Alternative to Sharpies for Marking Balls?

Thats the only part that does bother me about sharpies, it's when that mark remains as a glaring reminder of exactly how far from the center of the club I hit that last shot!

Not contentious, I was truly wondering why sharpies were not doing the trick. you may want to give these a try...

Thanks for that. I got some of the Golfdotz to try. Fairly easy to apply, though I did have a bit of trouble separating the paper from the dot for installation but that was probably just me. I have a bit of shake in my hands which also explains why I never became a brain surgeon. Anyway, I'm gonna pound the dotz today and see how it works out.

I draw 3 or 4 lines with dry erase marker on clubface. Rubs right off ball. No good if it’s remotely wet though.

They seemed to work just fine. Except, the golf balls still don't float...  😬

OP is looking for more permanent marking solutions, not less.

Recently I used POSCA's paint markers and they are just great. They are available in a very wide range of colour and with a medium tip I'm able to draw / write whatever I want on the ball and keep it discreet. The paint doesn't wears off so quickly (much less than what it takes me to lose the ball).

I discovered these a few months back and like them a lot.  Be advised that when you start a sheet, you need to finish it as they seem to lose their adhesion if the back paper has come loose for any length of time.

Cool. Will look into those as well. I've been really happy with the Marki permanent markers. Much more vibrant and better coverage than sharpies. While also holding up better.

I discovered these a few months back and like them a lot.  Be advised that when you start a sheet, you need to finish it as they seem to lose their adhesion if the back paper has come loose for any length of time.

I still like these things, but they are certainly not the more permanent solution the OP was looking for.

There are industrial grade Sharpies. Milwaukee also makes them. Used by construction workers on cement, brick and wood. They are better than standard Sharpies. Some pro's use them.

Sharpies work fine for me.  I usually lose the ball in a hazard long before the sharpie mark gets too bad.

Been doing the Sharpie thing since I started playing again in '17.  If a ball makes it through a couple of rounds, I will "touch-up" the marks with the Sharpie.  I think the most a ball has lasted has been 5 rounds.  I even have a couple balls that have a splattering of paint from an old shag bag - a light dusting of yellow on one and red on the other.  Readily identifiable and definitely outlasting any Sharpie markings.
