Golf Superpower. What's Your Pick?

Recommended Posts

I thought of another one: Summon Caddie.

Summoning Tiger Woods as my caddie for one hole per round might not improve my game, but the sheer coolness of having that power would make every round a thrilling adventure.

Taking a flight of imagination, picture having Marty McFly from Back to the Future as your caddie. With his futuristic insights, he predicts where your ball will land, turning every swing into a thrilling time-traveling golf adventure.

You will feel the need to let the group in front of you pass through.

Yes! If only this wasn't an issue on the course. Drives me nuts.

I would settle with just having the ability to help the group in front of me offer to allow me to play through.

I was recently playing in a group that was much much faster than the group in front of us. We waited a couple of holes in a row to give them the opportunity to ask, then speaking for the group I asked them. "Hey, can we play through?"

"There's no place to go" was their response and they played on without letting us play through. In my head I thought "Bullsh!t... There are three open holes in front of you guys." But instead I said nothing. By time we finished there were six open holes in front of them.  People who don't get it, don't get that they don't get it.

My bag is an ever-changing combination of clubs.

A mix I am forever tinkering with.

Holy shit. Within the rules of this game this is the winner by a mile!

Aside from @Vinsk's genius nomination, but kind of along the same lines in terms of zen/jedi mind, how about goldfish brain power? The ability to maintain a maximally positive and calm frame of mind and not even "forget" bad shots but not even have it be an issue that a bad shot could stick with you and have a negative effect on future shots.

Two options:

1) Call the Marshall - This would be my preferred option

2 ) It does not always work but sometimes you can skip a hole to get in front of them then play a couple holes to get a gap ahead of them and drop back and play the hole you skipped then drive past them again to go forward to where you left off.  A lot depends on the course layout if that would work and you would really need to know the course layout to make it work.  Also, if it is jammed up behind you then you may never be able to play the hole you skipped.  I've successfully done this a couple of times and the look on the faces when you skip by them the 2nd time is great.

    • I played a round at the course I am trying to get par on every hole, on Thursday. On a par 5 I have yet to par, dog leg left with a cart path and tree's on the left at the bend and a sand trap right in the middle of the fairway at the bend where you're most likely to hit the ball. I managed to get great contact with the ball off the tee, knocked it well over the tree's/cart path and into the fairway leaving me with around 200 yards to the green on my second shot. 3w shot landed the second shot just outside the green about 80 yards to the pin. 3rd shot landed the ball about 10 feet from the pin on the green. Now putting for birdie, I miss the edge of the hole by about half an inch and the ball rolls past 2 feet. Now putting for par, I putt nice and soft and the ball lips out hahaha. Bogey
    • I think Scottie isn't as enjoyable to watch play golf is because he doesn't have the "flashy" game. He doesn't take on more than he can handle. His misses are always way less most other golfers. He's just the ultimate steady golfer, but his floor is like stupidly high.  Let's say Scottie was in Rory's position on Hole 15 on Sunday at Augusta this year. Is Scottie even attempting that sweeping draw around the tree? I don't, I think Scottie blasts it into the bunker right of the green and tries to get up and down.  Rory is more fun to watch because of the highs and lows to his game. It's like, ah man he can crash and burn here or hit it to like an amazing shot.  Tiger, we just didn't know what we had in the moment. His floor was so high that we were just like, this is awesome. Then he hit an amazing shot and it left us speechless.  As for Rahm, I get why people have issue with him. I like his game. I like his attitude on the course. The passion is 100% and I a respect that even if he gets hot headed. I rather have human beings on the course playing golf, and that means they are fallible.  I appreciate Scotties' game a lot. If you sit back and just think about how he plays it's really impressive.
    • Played a round yesterday, went up and down from greenside on a Par 5 and dropped a 40-ft putt from off the green on a Par 4.
    • Oh jeez.. it's not like rooting for someone to fail life or anything.
    • And there’s the thing. I can’t root AGAINST Scheffler, he’s a nice guy and supernaturally talented. Completely in possession of himself, unlike Spieth, who always has this psychological thing going on, and takes us all along for another ride on “The Jordan Spieth Experience”.  But I can’t root FOR Scottie, either, especially when he laps the field. There is a robotic quality to his winning. There’s little EDGE. Tiger always had edge, he always (and to this day) forced you to take a stand. Scottie Scheffler doesn’t demand a damn thing of you - not to be liked, not to be hated, nada. He goes out there and wins and picks up his hefty paycheck and it’s satisfying for his family. Beyond that I just don’t know.
