100% agree, feedback is everything with learning. With out feedback, your brain doesn't know what parts to replace with the correct information. Some people may be able to distinguish between a new pattern and old very fast. Some it might take some time, but once you start to have that feeling of, "Oh that was more like the old pattern." Now you are on the right path. Especially if you can feel it at speed.

I enjoyed the latest episodes with Mike Granato. His unaffected style wants to make me listen to him more.

The ones from months ago? 🤣 Catch up, man!

Honestly, I just go to the podcast 'channel' on Spotify and it plays whatever is in line. I'm usually driving so cant tell what's fresh and what's old. Incidentally, the previous one I listened to was the Ep. 30 (also, what Spotify served up..) which I believe is fairly fresh. Pretty good episode as well.

Anyway, my post stands on it's merit. Keep up the great content!

Just listened to the latest episode about force plates. I've been interested in these for a while, but holy smokes are they expensive. Smart 2 Move's website notes at the top that it is now affordable for the average golfer and then the bottom rung most basic version starts at $7,300 all the way up to the 3D RS version at about $35,000. I have a different idea of what affordable means. Does anyone know of an actually affordable option?

One other note - I agree with Erik 100% - the pizza box joke was indeed terrible. 🤣

Go get a lesson 😉

Probably not something you need to buy. Like owning your own personal GEARS system.

Honestly, I think if you are told what to look for you can self-assess with video.

Ha - I get to use some quite fancy ones when I go for a lesson. I'm thinking more about something I can use to check how I'm doing outside of the lesson. The thing I was working on last time I got on the plates I think would be extremely difficult to see on video (the line between the CoPs of my feet was too flat and I needed to get more left toe and right heel on the way back rather than center of both.

I really enjoyed this week’s show on force plates. Last year, my instructor never let me have all my weight on the back foot- perhaps 70% max. He encouraged me to shift forward and use vertical forces since I am a front post, upper-core golfer. This improved my irons pretty quickly. Do others see more benefit with a greater weight shift back?

If anyone is interested, there do appear to be some options here. There are salted insoles, which run about $200. Seems like they're pretty basic and their website links to Amazon, which says they're out of stock and don't know when they'll get more. Then there are Bal.on insoles for about $600. More sensors and a much better app with guidance like hackmotion comparing your trace with pro traces. Then there is sensor edge sports who have a two mat system for $3,500. After that seems like you're into Smart2Move or SwingCatalyst and spending muchos denarii.

Yeah, those insoles aren't too bad. I've heard decent things.

    • Day 65 (6 Nov 25) - weekly nine hole session with my friends playing up a set of tees.  As always a casual session, got in some great course management work as I was dealing with some straight pulls off the tee, so recovery shots were the drills of the day.
    • Day 402 - 2025-11-06 Practiced for only about 15 minutes today. Used the mirror and foam balls. Backswing almost entirely. Helped @DrizZzY for some of the time after and before, too.
    • I agree. One of the main problems with the old UK system was how slow it was to catch up to changes in ability. The WHS reacts far more quickly in both directions too (maybe different at 20+ handicap, but below 5 it for sure does).
    • I know, and so he's got to consider that if his handicap went up FOUR strokes, it was through play likely quite a bit worse than even that, because that's into the soft cap, and so… keeping his handicap down at only 1 or 1.5 higher would not represent how he had been playing over 15+ rounds. Again, it's still fifteen rounds. And some really bad scoring for 15 rounds. He has an "outdated" definition of "quick." It is the way it is because of reasons, and my suggestion is that he consider them. Not just react with "this isn't like how it used to be…".
    • He's from the UK. Under the old UK system, a handicap going up 4 whole strokes would take a long time. Only changes in competition rounds, of which you might have 12-15 per year. Then from 18 to 22 you'd have to shoot more than 4 shots worse than your handicap (up to 20) and 5 shots worse (above 20 to 22). Any single round that's better than your handicap brings you down by 0.3 (under 20) or 0.4 (20 or above) per shot better than your handicap. Even if you played absolute rubbish every time you go out, it would take you upwards of 2 years to go up by 4 strokes. On that basis, 5 weeks is extremely quick.
