I’m just saying they could’ve won even more if not for the factors I’ve listed out.

I don’t know about that…your opening statement regarding Rory describes hundreds of professional athletes. Money, women, buffing up more, pressure. Hardly unique to Rory and Tiger.

As for the post bulk-up left yanks and right pushes, a few examples;

In the 2016 Masters, Rory was in contention, but he missed left repeatedly with drivers and irons

In the 2020 U.S.Open, Rory repeatedly missed right off the tee (yes… left was trouble, deep rough - but an example nonetheless of Rory trying to guard against the left miss)

Cause of the left miss:  Stronger upper body + reduced hip mobility → reliance on arms → clubface closes early in transition → pulls left

Agree 100%.  They are just glaring examples from the highest echelon of the PGA tour.  I’m expanding on this non-unique scenario to predict that Rory won’t win the Masters because of this, and other issues.

Maybe I should’ve said it but my point was there are plenty of athletes who have these issues yet continue to perform well and achieve great success.

sigh… here are some facts and evidence on the fitness point

Fact:  Early career success, pre-transformation:  Rory won 4 majors between 2011-2014.

Fact:  Around 2014-2015, Rory started working heavily on strength and conditioning, significantly increasing his gymwork,

Evidence:  Rory himself has shared his intense fitness routines on social media, interviews, including heavy squats and lifts

Impact:  The increased muscle mass can alter swing mechanics and timing, problematic compared to the fluidity and feel he exhibited prior to the bulking up.

Dude. Everything you just typed has nothing to do with the two bullet points I asked you to provide evidence for.

This happened to Jordan Spieth as well. He won 3 majors. 2 in 2015 and 1 in 2017. Then he got all buffed up and now he doesn't win majors anymore.  It's his huge muscles that are ruining his game. 💪

Not sure what you’re referring to?

Raising my hand on the Rory divorce point - I got that wrong, looks like they’ve reconciled, good for him.  And I’ll concede this undermines the third point in my analysis as to why he won’t win a Masters.

However, what other simple facts did I get wrong?

Update on my prediction!  Standing by it, regardless of my mangling of the divorce item in point #3.

As to where we stand, Rory’s turnaround, wow.  His talent is undeniable, and as he puts it himself - he’s resilient.

Man.. reading back through the thread, it’s understandable how my thread starter would be taken negatively, especially for those who really like Rory.  But for those who are calling out Troll or incorrect facts, etc etc, I’ll make a deal.

If Rory wins (and I count myself in for those who would like to see him win), I’ll come back and grovel, begging for forgiveness, acknowledging how wrong I had it, etc etc

But if Rory loses, and for any reasonable connection to the factors I listed, some sort of similar acknowledgement coming back the other way would be nice! 😊 👍

“Will never win” applies to the rest of his career. We can revisit this topic the day he either wins or plays his last Masters. If he never end up winning someone might say “you guessed right”. Could be tomorrow, 20 years from now or more.

In the event he never wins one, I’m also interested to see how you’ll prove that your suggested reasons had anything to do with it.

Good point!  As to how to prove, no idea!  I’m sure folks much smarter than me will have well thought out analyses.

And to start round 3, Rory pounds a drive 371 yds, over 50 yds further than the next longest drive?  And he birdies the first.  I may have to start groveling now 😭

OK - GROVELING STARTING NOW - BIRDIE EAGLE START.  I AM WRONG WRONG WRONG

UPDATE:  Even if I decide to retract my grovel, that first 5 holes was the most electric start that I can recall seeing at the Masters?  Wowow! Even with my hyperbolic prediction, I’d hate to see him fall back now

Thats the whole issue I have with all the points you've made in this topic.

You're the one making the claims, it's on you to back them up.

It’s hard not to cheer for a 5’ 9” guy who can bomb it. Plus he’s the face of the PGA Tour right now and seems quite a humble guy.

Yes… he’s backed off the hyper macho opposition to LIV.  I like him better now than I did a couple of years ago.  That had to be a tough transition, after all the statements, clips, press conferences deriding LIV.  He seems to have come out the other side of that, and like you say - coming across very humble, a much more likable Rory.

So now, Rory has a LOT of baggage to contend with heading into this final round.  The decade of Masters with some close calls, the so-called chokes, the LIV drama.  He looks to be in the best position to win he’s ever been in.  This could be a hugely dramatic win, or the greatest collapse since Greg Norman

He leads by two. Unless he is up by a bunch heading to the second nine, his 2011 Masters is still going to top almost anything that could happen today.

But clearly you're not one to let facts get in the way of your narrative(s)…

jeezus, you sound like a librarian or an auditor person.  At least I have a take.  You could try coming up with something more interesting than being the corporate fact checker, maybe that’s not possible for you

On this forum takes that arent supported by facts get called out. (Rightfully so)

I'd rather not have a take than have a take that isn't supported by facts.
