What a finish! Imagine when Spaun first got to his ball seeing a 65’ putt …at the US OPEN….and pull that off. Just amazing .

And $20 to finish top 10, which will pay $140 if he can finish in the top 10.

Brooks missed the top 10 by one stroke.

So, Caught on the fly, gone with a sigh.

Given that the rough is not that high for the members, and I doubt they have the championship tee boxes open.

Though, it is a beast, lol.

I don't think this was a last man standing win. The drive on 17 has gotta be an all-timer at a US Open though. Talk about hitting it on the screws at a peak moment! And then doesn't blink on the big 18th either. 100% deserved win.

I was pulling hard for Adam and Viktor though. I hope Viktor can put it together and get one across the field soon. I do think the denial of drop at 15 got in Burn's head.

The cabbage seemed like it was singularly most defining aspect of the championship (as expected..). I hate to revel in the misfortunes of the cabbage victims but it was so entertaining. Surviving it was like surviving hell week. Cut the bombers down to size.

I heard about this from a coworker, so I had to do some googling.

The incident marks the second time in two months that Wyndham Clark's name has been tied to major-championship mayhem.

Apparently, sources are saying he did bash in two lockers at Oakmont. If this is true, really bad form from Clark. You are a guest at Oakmont, and you basically destroy a member's locker.

Far worse happens fairly regularly. Which is not to excuse what he did, but… just to put it in a little context.

Money and luxurious lifestyle dont solve mental issues or correct bad personality traits.
Some of these golfers have been treated with kid gloves all their lives. Their poor behavior was excused because they had talent or could win money.
And when a person with a poor attitude grows up with no consequences, they kick in locker doors simply because they did not perform well.

Not sure it is a spoiled brat, there are hyper competitive people who exhibit rage issues. It probably is more a genetic quality over environmental.

Not condoning and I'm sure there will be deserved consequences but please hold the virtue signalling. Not all poor behavior is born from entitlement.

Hit the driving range on lunch today. The LAB Putter Cult was going on and on at nauseum about that putt. They are 100% sure that the LAB putter is the reason he won the US Open. "When are you getting your LAB putter?" 😒

"JJ Spaun was unheard of before he got the LAB putter."

"The LAB putter is the reason JJ Spaun won the US Open."

"Just watch, by the end of the year every PGA Tour pro will have a LAB putter."

etc... etc... etc...

I haven't seen this type of unconditional devotion to a club that will clearly change your game and save you strokes since the original "Hammer" ... POW! ... BOOM! ... WHAM! ....

Yea, it is a cult following. Especially with the YouTube golf personalities using them. They did great marketing in a space that not many other golf clubs are getting into yet. Especially for putters.

I tried them out at Golf Galaxy before; I can't stand them look of them.

A lot of us on this forum are hyper competitive, we just know not to break things that don't belong to us!

I’m really glad he won now!

From Golf Digest

Quote

While Shane Lowry and Scottie Scheffler talked about spending the morning before winning majors wondering if they were worthy of the moment, Spaun was too busy running to CVS to help his younger daughter Violet to have a deep philosophical conversation with himself.

She had a stomach bug and was vomiting all night long,” Spaun said. “I was just like, ‘OK, my wife was up at 3 a.m., and she's like, Violet is vomiting all over. She can't keep anything down. It was kind of a rough start to the morning. I'm not blaming that on my start, but it kind of fit the mold of what was going on, the chaos.”

    • Day 354: shitty, busy week so far. Only had time for a bit mirror work - working on the same things.
    • IDK, a full turn. That is what it's feeling like. When I shallow the club, it ends where It ends. Should I crank the torso more around?  I'll check a face-on to make sure, but it's not like I am trying to make partial backswings.  The day has finally come, when I am getting comments on not making a long enough backswing. 🤣 too much of what?  Here is my typically routine.... 1) I usually start out just doing position work. The backswing stuff we work on. Turn to A2.5-ish, shallow to A4, pause, arms down to A6. Then, slight pump drill and hit the ball.  2) I do some pause at A4 and arms down and try to hit ball from A4 instead of A6.  3) I do some full swing stuff, trying to blend it all together. Checking video to see if I am actually keeping the club shallow or not. If not, then I go back to trying to train the downswing with the stuff we worked on. I try to blend it all together again, and check video.  What am I missing here? I do the stuff we worked on. I'll keep it at, it's all I can do. Just hope it changes.  Sorry for trying to find a feel that keeps the club shallow..
    • Ha ha.... I'm not sure.  I've actually never watched a LIV event. ... but maybe? 👍👍
