There are 5 things all great golfers do well,

As long as they are maintaining a steady head, keeping your head down isn't a necessary swing thought.

agreed.  it just happens to be my swing thought when I'm 'getting a little too excited' during my swing.  Of course it goes further than just that, I mostly try to keep basically from my head to my chest, as relaxed as possible which really helps me maintain my posture and release the golf club properly.  I have a bad habit of throwing my entire body into the ball at impact which leads to pulls and pushes

I watch the pro's and they keep their head on down through impact every time. Their head does not come up until their follow through reaches waist level. I go to the range and see my divot after I hit the ball. I can do this in practice, but I cannot take it to the golf course. It is, in effect, a full shot yip. I have read tip after tip, but nothing helps. I've had the Chip Yips for a long time and now it's affecting my full iron shots. If I cannot correct this, it will be time to quit this game. I doubt any tip will help, but if anyone has a thought, I am all ears.

I’m curious why you think you have to do this? Maybe you’re just thinking too much about ‘keeping your head down’ and it’s messing you up?

That's not really all that true, @Doug Brady. Two former world #1s in David Duval and Annika Sorenstam famously were looking several feet in front of the ball before impact.
