Well, I guess free cigars were good while they lasted. He sent you 3 really good ones. Enjoy them

He said he was going to send me steaks from Lobels as a gift, but I guess he lied about that too.

I thought I'd share my collection, I had been smoking cigars on and off for years but I just started chronicling my collection so everything on my site is from June of this year on. http://craigmac.us/cigars.html

Wow, those

are nice.
Holy crap. THose are 3 really good cigars. I know its OT, but why did he get banned? I want free cigars....lol. And he did this to "a few members?" THats not fair.

He seemed like a really good guy(actually the OP of this thread), I think his ole lady said he had too many so he was thinning them out. You are about two months too late, from what I understand he spread the love around to a few members, he sent me 3(RP vintage 92, Cohiba Red Dot Robusto Fino and a Don Peppin Blue Label).

I'm heading out tomorrow.. and debating what to take with me.

I think I've narrowed it down to either a TTT Trinidad, or Montecristo Series IV.

What do you think?

I finally smoked a Graycliff. It was the Crystal Pirate I believe. It was put together nice, drew nice and had a little bit of spiceness to it? Im a crappy reviewer because I cant always put my finger on certain characteristics, but I did enjoy this stick. I dont know if Its worth the 20 dollar price tag, but I will definitely enjoy smoking the 4 I have left.

By Vegas do you mean 5 Vegas (pronounced Cinco Vegas)? THey are great mild sticks. If you like the mild stuff, here are a few to try out if you want to.
Rocky Patel Edge Lite
Rocky Patel Connecticut Shade
CAO Gold
All 3 of these cigars are very mild and will produce a great golf smoke.

Rocky Patel Edge Lite

Thats my go to golf smoke. In the winter Ill smoke a medium to full bodied. But come summer, I usually stick with the Edge Lite's or a Padron 6000 Natural.

If you're liking the Edge Lite, lay hands on an Edge Sumatra. It's by and large the best offering in the Edge line, IMO. A fine smoke, and it even made the Cigar Afficionado 2007 Top 25 (#24)

I am far from a cigar aficionado, but I had an Ashton Churchill last week after a year layoff, and I forgot how much I liked it.

I second the opinion on the RP Connecticut, I have smoked a few of those in the last few months and would say that it is the best mild cigar I have tried. Burned perfectly even and smoked great, and the Churchill was the perfect size for a golf course cigar.

Me too... but I golf every day!

No need to rub it in

    • If it's not broken don't fix it. If you want to add grooves to it just because of looks that's your choice of course. Grooves are cut into putter faces to reduce skid, the roll faced putter is designed to do the same thing. I'm no expert but it seems counter productive to add grooves to the roll face. Maybe you can have it sand-blasted or something to clean up the face. Take a look at Tigers putter, its beat to hell but he still uses it.
    • I get trying to limit relief to the fairway, but how many roots do you typically find in the fairway? Our local rule allows for relief from roots & rocks anywhere on the course (that is in play). My home course has quite a few 100 year old oaks that separate the fairways. Lift and move the ball no closer to the hole. None of us want to damage clubs.
    • Hello, I've been playing a Teardrop td17 F.C. putter for many years and love it. It still putts and feels as good or  better than any of the new putters I've tried and it's in excellent condition except the face has dings in it ever since I bought it used that kind of bother me. I was just wondering if it's possible to have some really shallow horizontal grooves milled into the face on a "roll face" putter. I think I would rather spend some money on it instead of trying to get used to a new putter.  Thanks
    • I agree with @klineka & @DaveP043 above.  When a new member first joins the club they cold be told that they are not eligible for tournaments until they have an established HCP.  As you said, it only takes a few rounds.  If they do not to post HCP that was their choice and choices have consequences.  If playing in the tournament is important to them then they should step up and establish an HCP.  Maybe they miss the 1st tournament, is that a real big deal?  And if it is a "Big Deal" to them then they had the opportunity to establish the HCP. As for not knowing how to report for HCP I assume your club has a pro and they should be able to assist in getting the scores reported and I suspect out of state courses may also have staff that can assist if asked.
