So I just bought a 35" Studio Style on ebay, but it's a 35" and I need a 35". I can putt with a 35" but am much more comfortable with a 34".

How much weight does it drop to cut it one inch? Is it a huge amount? How can I add some weight back w/o lead tape?

Thanks.

you'll lose 10 grams or so in head weight... really hard to get that weight in lead tape

take off the grip and you can add tungsten / lead weight inside the shaft and plug with a shaft cork

Is 10 grams a lot if I don't do anything about the weight after, and just putt with it? As in, is it a LOT lighter in the hands when putting?

Ok, so today I got my Odyssey White Steel #1 34" cut to a 32" for my brother. Didn't realize much if any weight difference. Does it only drop the weight that much in a Scotty? Or did the putter drop 20 grams and I just can't notice?

I can't offer much other than to tell you I too recently picked up a Scotty off ebay. I am stoked to get it.

Scotty Camerons really vary in terms of the length / weight proportion compared to other manufacturers

In terms of the 10 grams, you may not feel it when you pick it up persay but you may feel the lack of weight in your stroke

Scotty Camerons are designed to have a specific weight/balance to the specific length. Cutting it will cause problems with that balance of the club. Spending that much money on a putter to alter it wouldn't be a good idea in my book.

Yeah, I still might not cut it. Thought a 35" was too long. Went into Golf USA today to see how long a 35" really was and it wasn't that long.

And I'm still growing...so...

Just read that if you cut it more than 1/2" it changes the feel. I think I'm going to get it cut to 34.5".

How tall are you flop? Ben is right, it might be a good idea to maybe just adjust to a 35"

You don't want to risk ruining your putter.

I'm only 5'7" (still growing pretty fast). But I putt with a stance that requires at very least a 34".

Just depends. If I'm uncomfortable w/ it, I'll cut it 1/2". If it's fine, I'll leave the beauty alone.

So I just bought a 35"

Send the putter to Scotty. He will adjust the putter to your preferred specs and everything will be lovely. Canada . (lol - just kidding dent... sarcasm really offends the pseudo-Americans)

I cut 2" off my 2-ball putter and then replaced the grip with one of the oversize Odyssey / Winn grips.

It seems okay.

I don't know if I'd done the same with a Scotty, though. May have sent it to them for the changes.

I bought a Scotty that had been cut from 35" to 33" and it is so light I cant hardly play with it. I gave it to my wife. I know for a fact if you cut 2" off of it, you have basically nothing more than a gift for the special someone in your life, or a wall hanger.

Here is the Scotty Custom site. Click the "view options" button and see what you can do. You can cut it to 33 or 34 and get the head weight exactly as you like it. If you cut it the swing weight obviously will be lighter; Add the right weight to the cut putter and you will bring it back to the correct swing weight.

They can only add heavier weights for the Select, not the studio.

At VERY most, I'd cut it one inch. Most likely 1/2 inch.
