Now I'm not an english teacher or anything but I wan't to know why everyone on this forum freaks out if I don't use proper grammar or something. People keep giving me negative reputation points because I don't capitalize "I" or something like that. I mean, common people this isn't a business website or something. But if its that big of a deal to everyone, then I will try to use proper english from now on.

Its not always how you drive the ball, but how it arrives.

Are you for real?! Don't worry about it. The grammar and spelling on this board is atrocious...and it even has spell check! Don't get me started on what some people here do.

to read easy. harder to tell but understanding no one get all mad. like what i said you just read. difficult no?

I'm just messing with ya. But anyway, it's harder to understand I guess. Most people don't like to reread what people wrote just to understand it. This forum is actually pretty good compared to others that I go to.

I see you tried really hard in that post to use proper spelling and grammar. Just kidding man.

Don't even worry about it, some people on here are really grouchy. Like harry said, because their golf season is ending.

Alright thanks guys and gals lol, and yeah Dent, I did try my best to use proper grammar in that post lol.

And Tony, your right this forum is very well compared to some I've been to.

I will admit that I am one of those who gets annoyed with poor grammar. But I would never leave someone negative reps. for grammar. I reserve negative reps for when people are intentionally rude to other people. (And not even then most of the time.)

But as far as grammar goes, it just makes it easier for other people to understand what you are trying to say. A lot of people forget that ideas in their head make sense because the brain processes things as images and ideas, not words. But other people can't "plug-in" to someone else's brain. So the only way they can understand is if the thoughts are translated into easily understandable writings.

Capitals, periods, spelling, etc. were invented so that we all have a standard way of communicating. When someone deviates from the standard that everyone else is used to, it causes problems. (And it's annoying as a reader if your genuinely want to understand what someone is trying to say.)

Now, typos, etc. usually aren't a problem because they don't occur enough to mess with the brain's ability to process the rest of the writing. But some people write so poorly that you have to stare at the post and try to decipher it. Basically, they are too lazy to write properly.

So, they post because they want people to read and respond to their post, but they are too lazy to make it possible to do that efficiently. That's just disrespectful in my book.

Justin, I recall reading several of your posts, but I don't recall anything egregious about your grammar. Trust me, if your posts were really bad, I would have said something to you openly on the board.

But as a general rule, it's best to write with the basics - spelling and punctuation. I think you will find that you get better responses to your posts that way.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

That was probably the biggest, most useless rant i've ever read.

Harry,

Jealous?

Harry, of course I'm kidding. Your a good guy and make valued posts on this forum. Why would I even visit this thread if you weren't in it?

(a) I knew you were kidding.

(b) So was I. (c) That last sentence is a little creepy. Yet also somehow flattering.
