I stand corrected..............290 yard carry with a 3 wood AND back it up.

Me thinks this might be just someone's alternate login here and they're having a good fishing trip with this.

290 yard 3w with backspin is among the best tales I've heard on this forum.  Pretty cool.  For a hole-in-one no less.  That's even awesome-er.

Maybe you drove into them so they put it in the hole while you were in transit, then made up a ridiculous story you could repeat on internet golf forums, and they're reading it right now now laughing like crazy.

I took two 12 year olds on a par 3 a couple months ago. My kids friend placed a golf ball he found on the hole we just finished 6" from the hole behind the flag pole on a 116 yard hole. I didn't think it would work, but I heard an " oh, man I thought for sure I would birdie this one..." I told them not to do it on the regulation course we went to last month, so don't worry. It wasn't us.

Good point.  I'm not completely sure of the physics on this, but I'm pretty sure that if you were able to carry a standard 15* 3W 290 yards that it would be high enough in the air to take out a couple of the doves that were observing this majestic shot.

Any math experts know what kind of launch angle/swing speed characteristics are required at minimum to carry a 3W 290 and NOT have it roll out even  10 yards?  I believe the furthest I've ever hit my 3 wood without wind and on a level surface was 275-ish, and that was with probably 30 yards or more of roll.  Any time I've seen a pro (notably Woods, DJ and McIlroy) hit their 3W 300+, it typically involves 20+ yards of roll in the fairway.

No way possible, the people were 10 yards to the left of the green, we could see my right before it hit, then see the people look over and then they backed up to the next tee.  When I got to the green I apologized because I thought I almost hit them, they said no worries just when the ball hit the hill it scared them.  They never got even close to the hole, could see them the entire time.

Yep. I live in spreadsheets at work, figured they could help keep things organized here too.

I'm getting my clubs fitted today and will have him take down all of the important angles. From there, if something is off or feels right, I can change/stick with it.

Also helps to track of rounds, conditions, club inventory, etc. so I know what bets I owe between friends, how I'm playing comparative to other rounds and what I should sell a club for that I haven't used in a while.
