What exactly is this book they are always pulling out? A normal note book, special pro only yardages or something else?

a book with yardages, carry distances, etc. with all obstacles well mapped out and drawn. They'll also keep momentos in there (family pictures, etc.)

It is just a carrying case for the yardage book, scorecard, pin sheet, notes, etc. Most yardage books are set up the same way opening up-and-down. My best guess is that if they didn't have the carry book everything would be soaked from sweat. Although I don't know if I would want to carry that big thing in my pocket. I would have the caddie carry it.

This is what made me wonder. It seems awfully intrusive, they are huge!

I figured the caddy had the yardage book and the golfer was carrying the scorecard.
