anyone with the last name miller is wrong (ie. Johnny). only joking

Hey, if you can knock down flags with those perimeter weighted MP-32s, you probably could do the same with 1950s era gear. You might need a club or two extra, but it's not a different game. Try it - if you can find something that meets your stringent shaft and grip criteria.

Just curious what it is about the modern casting process that makes a cast iron from today better than the investment cast irons from, for example, the 1980s. Personally I think the only thing that's improved since the 1950s the advent of perimeter weighting, more conisistent shafts, and soft (yet firm) grip materials. Of course, I could be wrong.

You're right, I shouldn't have said "modern." It doesn't go to the point I was trying to prove, it's actually irrelevant. Casting and "microscopic bubbles" do not affect the quality of a golf shot. At least I've never seen or read anything legitimate to the contrary.

haha, it was a joke but I agree with you about the casting process or forging not advancing much or if at all. i wouldnt mind using some older iron heads but I would want to change the shaft and grips on them to something modern though

A high kick or mid kick, low launch or mid launch steel shaft from 30 (or more) years ago will play pretty much the same as the equivalent modern steel shaft. I've got a set of Titleist Tour Models than are nearly 30 years old with TT Dynamic shafts-no big difference in feel or performance from an equivalent modern shaft.

    • Yea Club Rat said it. I really enjoyed the Senator and the Judge, then over to Grand National where there a couple good courses plus a fun par 3. The one I do play whenever I visit there is Ross Bridge; something about this course that is just good fun. I hope to play more of the courses in the future, but tomorrow is promised to no one, so hope is the key word. Have Fun, iSank

    • Day 56: 4/19/2024 Okay, even though I'll be teeing it up in a tournament in less than a week. I couldn't find time to get to the range today.  I spent time on the indoor putting mat.  And I spent time in front of the mirror with my 7 iron. Then again later with the driver.  I also thoroughly cleaned all my clubs.
