Gee, everyone's picking Geoff Ogilvy. Guy's never cracked the top 15 at Augusta in three tries - and is trending downward with T16, T24, T39 consecutively.

Tiger wins it. But I have him winning three majors this year, so duh. He's due, I think, at Augusta.

I'll start with the 2 most obvious picks:

Tiger Woods (my true pick to win, even though I'd rather Phil win)
Phil Mickelson (give us a thrill, Phil...)

After that it gets a little dicey. It depends on weather conditions as much as anything else for other players. Depending on the conditions almost anyone can win at The Masters (although I know many people will argue that, I think Mike Weir and Zach Johnson support my argument). My next 2 choices are kind of the next most logical:

Geoff Ogilvy (he hits it long and high and is a good putter - all good at Masters)
Anthony Kim (probably not this year, but I think he'll contend)

Dark Horses (sorta...):
Ernie Els (he's due)
Robert Karlsson (played so well at majors last year)

But it all depends on weather. If the conditions were bad I might be willing to throw Jim Furyk into the mix. I do not think Padraig Harrington will even be in contention. Neither will Sergio, Camillo or Kenny Perry as putting is just too important at The Masters and none of these three are consistent enough putters. As a true dark horse (if he gets in), watch for Davis Love III.

I like Paddy Harrington and Stewart Cink. I have a hunch Cink might be due, and Harrington wants to continue on this year the way he played the last half of 2008, but with Tiger in the field. My serious sleeper is Jiminez, with the emphasis on sleeper.

See my Thread on the Over Hped Geoff Ogilvy. People in the Golfing world have the memory of a VIC 20.

As of right now I like:

I like these top three a lot. Kenny Perry is playing great (minus the early exit from the Accenture WGC). Plus, I just love these older guys on tour who are still mashing the ball... gives me hope I'll still be hitting it long in a few decades! It would be great to see guys like Kenny and Freddy Couples have good weeks at Augusta. Historically and logically speaking, it's not the time to pick Tiger - but I know better. He's got another month to prepare... it shouldn't shock any of us if he ran away with it.

Im saying:

1 Tiger Woods
2 Ernie Els
3 Paul Casey
4 Geoff Ogilvy
5 Freddie Couples.

These are my picks. Rory McIlroy will have a top 20 finish and Phil M will miss the cut. Michael Campbell, Angel Cabrera, and JM Olazabal are sleepers and will contend. I want to see Davis Love put in a good showing.

Also, I want David Duval to put in a good showing between now and then so he will get an invite..He's got the game to win at Augusta.

I want John Daly to carry Tiger's bag for rounds

Im taking the field vs Tiger. I dont know who is going to win so i dont have a list, but im pretty certain it wont be Tiger. From what i understand they are going to open to course up to more birdies again which means anyone with a hot week can win.

If they open the course up to the old Roars on the back nine instead of the US Open awww's and once again determine a winner instead of the best loser then It should bring the real cream to the top. (gone with the immelmans and Johnsons) and in with the

Tiger Phil Ernie Paddy Sergio Oh and did I mention NOT GEOFF OGILVY

hmmmm, I'll have to think on my picks for a bit.

However, one question that comes to mind ...

Will Justin Rose lead after the first day for the 4th consecutive year?
Damn you people, this is golf!

Ogilvy would have won if they played the Masters last weekend where he won the World golf Championship-Accenture Match Play.

McIlroy - Will youth be served? Probably not but you never know!

Harrington - Big long shot but you gotta put his name in until he stops winning Majors.

Sean Ohair - I just got this feeling this kid is going to do something great in his career.

Fred Couples - It would be awesome to have one more "1986 Masters" type moment.

Greg Norman - (Same as above)It would be awesome to have one more "1986 Masters" type moment.

I'd like to see Greg Norman win, because it'd be entertaining to see the older guy oust the young guys. Plus he got BSed out of quite a few majors.

McIlroy- he's a superb driver of the ball and he's fearless on the greens.
Ogilvy- he hits it high and is great around and on the greens.
Tiger- he's...well...Tiger!
Garcia- it's bound to happen for him. He's too good.
Cink- he's playing well. If his putter doesn't go cold, who knows?

1. Geoff Ogilvy
2. Tiger + Rory McIlroy
3. Paul Casey
4. Padraig Harrington
5. (outsiders) Ross Fisher, Phil Mickelson

norman is the guy i *want* to win it, but not necessarily the guy i *expect* to win it.

Weir has had a decent start to the year, he is my darkhorse this year. If I had to bed I'd say Tiger.

    • Day 313 - I played 18 today. First and last holes were ugly, but I actually played pretty well. Driver was great, irons were alright, and the short game was better than average.
    • Day 205 (23 Nov 24) - Worked with the alignment rod and 7i  in reference to ball position in relation to lead foot on full iron shots, noticed an increase in thinned shots last couple of rounds - better contact with the balls (hard foam) during the drill/swing rehearsals.
    • Have you gone to a fitting? A good fitting will not only give you a clubhead but a shaft, etc. that will suit you.
    • It's not like the Nike Vapor Pro are exactly a highly sought set of irons.
    • Last night I was putting my Nike Vapor Pro Irons back in my bag.  I had my sons i500’s in there the last couple months after we all went to Top Golf .  I picked up the Nike’s this past spring and they are like new.  I feel guilty using them… I have other irons that aren’t valuable that I could use instead.
