I have the Golf Traxx App, but I haven't had a chance to use it... all of the courses out here seem to be out of 3G Range, so the GPS doesn't work. I'm not sure I would trust it to be accurate enough to give yardage anyways, but it seems like a convenient way to at least keep score and some basic stats.

Anyone have any positive or negative experiences with golf apps for the iPhone?

I remember when the app store first opened, and went through and looked at every available app. These days, I just look at the ranked ones, search if I want something particular, or go on a recommendation.

I guess my favourite or most used apps (not included with the iPhone), in no particular order are:

1) NY Times
2) Bloomberg
3) Weather Channel
4) NASB Bible
5) Units Converter
6) Air Sharing
7) Facebook
8) Par 72 Golf
9) Labrynth Lite
10) I have a bunch of Korean apps which to me are invaluable (Dictionary, Subway, Train Schedule, & Maps)

Cheers, Allan

The New York Times app just got upgraded to read offline I read somewhere. Will have to try that.

I use CityTransit, Instapaper, Pandora, Yelp and Frontpages, plus too many news apps to list.

Will have to try the Kindle app. Already have Stanza.

I love Wurdle, but I cannot believe the high scores: 50,000? All I can muster is in the neighborhood of 5,000.

The golf traxx one is good. it dose a good job of getting you to a ball park of how far you are, but you deff need to keep in mind it is free not 300$ like some golf gps. It is a grate app a good way to keep track of my rounds. I would say for being a free gps golf app grate, but dont put your life on it being right on the money with how far away you realy are.

I have Golf Shot GPS, the GPS doesnt work as well as rangefinders or CkyCaddie.

And also I just got the iSwing App for Golf Swing analysis. They have it for iphone and android.

I usually just prop my device on my standbag with a couple rubber bands or some people use the flexible joby tripod.

its pretty cool.

iSwing App.

I actually made a golf app that is for sale on the Droid and iPhone markets. The app is called Golf Pro To Go. I'd love to hear what the forum's thoughts were on the app.

I'm sure people are now aware but iPhone apps I believe are now illegal during rounds of golf. Regarding other apps I use regularly:

Weather For Golf

Tiger Woods: My Swing

Golfshot

Swing Reader

    • Day 211 (29 Nov 24) - Friday men’s round albeit a solo foursome (temps in the 40’s, day after Thanksgiving and the average age closer to 75 - I’m a youngster at 65).  Interesting day of semi-solid play (8 of 18 GIR). Hit all four par threes in one (a first) - parred each; still had a couple 3 putt bogies; and blew up on 3 of the par 5’s (go figure)). The blow ups were some serious tree rattlers - amplifying how I got stupid and greedy instead of smart and content to just get back in the short stuff.
