  1. 1. Which Grip do You Use?

i use interlocking, but overlapping will work for people too, both of those let the hands work as one, instead of as two seperate ones which can really throw u off

Its not always how you drive the ball, but how it arrives.

I thought this poll was already done but after a search i came up with nothing so we'll do it again. I use the interlocking grip, i have my whole playing career. Nothing wrong with it i think, i was at the range yesterday and was just hitting away and got board cause i was hitting them really well(that rarely happens) i began playing around abit, and i tried the vardon grip(overlapping grip) because i had never done it before. I was shocked, i struck the ball much more crisply and with a huge draw. Its feels good because its makes me feel like the club is going to come out of my hand if i dont swing on plane. i am considering switching, i need to do some more r&d; first cause i only hit my last like 6 balls like this. Let me know what grips you guys use and if you have ever changed and what the results were. Also are there any low handicapp guys out there using an overlapping grip?

I've always used the interlocking. Never tried anything different. Never had the desire to.

Tried Vardon for a bit, but started hurting my pinky. Switched to interlock. Vardon feels a bit more stable to me, but it also feels more uncomfortable. Interlock gives me a tad more freedom in my hands than I would like, but it has not been a problem so I stick with it.

"Straight 10 Finger" ... I hit the ball much better that way. I've tried interlocking and I couldn't hit my irons that way. I started swinging all of my clubs without interlocking over overlapping and I started hitting the ball much better the past couple weeks.

I've tried all 3, and more

Learned with 10 finger, but when I saw that 99% of golfers don't do this, I figured I should switch sooner rather than later.

Forced myself into interlock, but didn't know what I was doing really and ended up with a really strong grip with the club in my palms. not correct.

Read Hogan's 5 lessons and switched to overlap. I know i could have applied interlock to to his principals, but I wanted to get as far away from my old crappy interlock as possible.

I've gotten flamed a bit on here for discussing it, but I have experimented with chipping/pitching cross handed (with very good results I might add). I've never hit full shots like that though.

Sometimes I'll fool around with a double overlap on the range just for kicks, and to pretend I'm Furyk. Interesting experiment.

Interlocking here. Tried Vardon but like zapppa it started hurting my pinky.

Sometimes I use the baseball grip but only when I'm in thick rough and I only wanna hack it out of there. It helps me exaggerate a vertical strike down.

None of the above. I am self taught and grip the club how it feels natural to me. Its kinda of a modified overlapping grip. Instead of overlapping my right little finger, I overlap my left index. Might be the reason for my power fade!!

BTW im a righty.

10 finger on all clubs but my driver which I interlock... Not sure why but I can't change now...

Interlocking here. I feel like I have complete control over the club.

Have chopped and changed quite a bit over the years from interlock to Vardon and back. Just returned to Vardon after years with interlocking and really like the feel; irons in particular have suddenly felt very solid.

When I first played when I was a teenager I used the interlocking. Now that I am coming back to the game after 25+ years I have gone to the Vardon grip after reading about how it is the most popular grip in most books and with most players on tour. I also have big hands (I'm 6'6") and the Vardon grip feels more natural. I am kind of suprised at this poll and that most people use interlocking.

I began with am interlocking grip a year ago with my PGA Pro teacher but have switched to a modified baseball grip because some of my wrist bones are fused and I can't do such movements as a wrist cock very well. I place my right thumb on the shaft for additional strength. I still am extremly accurate and could'nt hit a slice if you paid me too. I have been playing only 2 years and love golf!

I really wanted to use the interlocking because tiger does it but I spent all winter practicing chip shots and I found that that for whatever reason the vardon grip gives is better for consistency, contact and workability. Yes I play around with working chip shots in both directions. Anyway I switched and I couldn't be happier.

I think the interlock allows you to grip really hard which is bad and also, it closes the club face. Try it take a vardon grip and then an interlock you'll notice the club face will shut slightly. I'm sure you can be good with both though obviously.

Up until last week I was using the 10 finger, baseball grip now I have changed to the Varden, orders from the pro I'm taking lessons with.
