I just picked up a box of pro v1 x-outs from my local dick's sporting goods. They were $29.99. I've played them in the past and have had really good results. Anyone else try these?

Yeah I get them sometimes at the beginning of the year when I start playing again from a winter layoff just to play around with. They're good balls and generally nothing wrong with them. I haven't noticed any differences anyway.

Cosmetic stuff according to TGW. I actually buy the practice ones and they are the same as the X outs.

I have a hard time finding what is wrong with the ball except that it says practice. I have noticed no difference in performance.

X-Outs and Practice balls are functionally identical to the full price balls. The X-outs usually have a cosmetic defect of some kind, the logo in the wrong place or ink missing. Sometimes they have malformed dimples or anomalies in the cover. Practice balls are similar, and I have heard the only difference with practice balls compared to the production golf balls is the weight and initial velocity. If they are too heavy or have an initial velocity that is higher than the USGA permits, they simply stamp "PRACTICE" on them and give them out to the tour players to hit at the range.

    • Day 3: Worked on backswing. Feel: Matt Wolff, Real: Not yanking it inside and getting it laid off and flat at the top.
    • I wrote the post before leaders tee'd off today (3rd round) when Schef was still tied with Fitz at -10. Also, if you read further I also said 'one man' will most probably put the championship to sleep by end of today..😊. Yeah, not much drama left it seems. Scheffler with a hot putter is out right frustrating for the field. I will still watch tomorrow because the course is awesome and the play is pretty exciting in general. Players reaching deep to hang on.
    • Yea, it seems clear that if it isn’t marked or set by the committee it’s in bounds. Now, should you go trespassing to hit a ball. 😉
    • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry here. While my senior thesis was in Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry (Physics as it relates to atoms and molecules) was one of my favorite courses.
    • I'd agree if you removed Scheffler. The best players in the world, by a mile, leading by four shots before Sunday isn't a dream setup for drama and entertainment.
