Anyone use one of these? sounds pretty good from what I have read so far. Figure get a cheap net, this unit and some where to set it up and it should be as good as the range. I know I typically do slice the ball, but if this thing is accurate, it seems it would tell me why I slice the ball.

That sure seems like a ton of money to spend to hit balls at your house instead of the range. But I'm rather poor, so what do I know.......Anyways, if it has a decent warranty on it, it may be a good thing to have if you've got the cash. Looks pretty cool.

Yeah, if it works. And good luck with that... always better to see an actual ball flight and hit from actual grass.

Plus a lot of courses include range use or charge a one-time fee that'd take 2-3 years to equal the cost of this thing.

If it was going to be used as just something to hit balls with then yeah that is high. But if you can play courses and different games, etc..then it's not any worse than buying a PS3 or something. Just depends on what you want.

I think it would be amazing if when working with the Tiger Woods game if it produced near-realistic conditions.

For me, I am most interested in just the club analyis (path, club face direction, etc)

I have something similar, and Electric Spin Golf Launchpad. http://electricspin.com/ I think it is pretty good at picking up the path and face angle, and mine isn't even the new improved version. It interfaces pretty well with TW golf (although the putting drives me nuts). FYI you can get the newest Launchpad for half of the Dancin' Dogg.

There were a few of us on the forum that got Launchpads last year about Christmas, and there are some threads with reviews.

Frankly it has probably made it worse, and is mostly how I am using it. Mine only gives clubface angle at impact (it is an older unit), and I was tweaking my swing (to get the face square) and my swing has completely fallen apart. I have gone back to using my dual trace swing trainer, which shows me path and face angle not only at impact but also before and after. I've had very good luck in the past with this trainer, which is a homemade version of the Freddy Connect trainer. You can make one for maybe $15 with a couple of LEDs, a resistor, a battery and holder, and a piece of plexiglass to mount them on.

I've got a newborn baby at home, so I don't have much time to golf for real, and the Launchpad is good for playing a quick faux 9 at night, but I don't think it is the best swing trainer. Surprisingly I think the Launchpad with TW Golf is a decent way to work on the mental part of the game, because course management becomes important.

Now that it appears the price has dropped, I want to see if anyone has this thing now and durability of it, etc. I am not sure what it cost when the thread was started but they had an infomercial on this morning and they say it costs about as much as a new driver now.

It looks like fun, if it is pseudo-accurate it would be good for the winter doldrums and keeping you in swing shape. I hesitate to say whether it will accurately calculate how badly I have topped the ball though...so has anyone gotten this thing?

The base appears to be made of plastic, I am not so sure about a plastic base when being hit with golf clubs.

I'm setting one of these up right now as our season in Alaska is already over. I'm going with a projector, full cage etc. If it doesn't work like they say I'll probably step up to the P3Pro.

Hi, I am a new member here. Greeting to everyone. My 12 old son started learning golf 3 month ago. I do not play. I have joint the group so I can get some support from you guys.

I have one Optishot set up in our basement so my son can practice swings with. We have a callaway net and he sees his notebook screen for feedback. Planning to set up impact screen and projector later this year.

Overall, it works well for the purpose I set it up for. It is less boring than just a net to practice at home when weather and time not permitting for the driving range.

It does give pretty acurate disance, swing path and face angle and swing speed for any club he uses. Putting is a little challenging. When compared to his range performance, I would say it is darn close.

You can play in a virtual range or in one of many courses that come with the software. He likes to practice in certain course and certain hole. He will put the ball somewhere to practice certain shots. Or he will play a round in one of his favorate courses.

The plastic sensor board is durable enough. He has been hitting it very hard and it seems to hold up fine.

It will be a lot more exciting once the projector is set up.

For $400 it is definitely worth it. I have found him practice a lot more than before. In the past, he would hit into the net and had no feedback.

Oh, he also plays Tiger Wood 2008 with it too.

I have both the Optishot and the P3pro. Thre P3pro is certainly way more accurate but also more expensive. Optishot is not very accurate with the driver and has limited info. If you can afford it get the p3pro.
